Potter-Dix gets a week 3 bye after starting 2-0 with a chance to game plan the rest of their schedule. Do they lose a single game this year?

Bellevue West was trying to line up a game this week with Iowa power Southeast Polk, but that school has picked up another opponent from within Iowa.

Kearney-North Platte also off. Looks like Kearney-Mill West next week is off, too.

not sure i would say southeast polk is a top power team in the state of Iowa, more of a just above 500 team, actually most years they are 6-5

Anyone know why Sioux County and Guernsey-Sunrise, WY game for 9/18 is cancelled?

Why would that be a problem. JV kids do this all the time. Play Friday, play Monday, play Friday. It literally happens every week.
If a "JV" kid is truly playing 4 quarters of JV & 4 quarters of varsity, perhaps they shouldn't be on JV. I understand numbers, etc., but sounds like a problem. I'm old, and my HS coach would only let you play 6 quarters a week. Of you played a lot on varsity, you only played 2 JV

Just for information, from the NSAA Football Manual:

3.11.4.3

An individual player may take part in no more than eight quarters of football per calendar week, except during the state playoff competition. (This limitation does not apply to a contest which has been postponed.)

Its a huge differance. Playing 6 quarters of basketball in one night is much differant than 8 quarters of football in 4 days. Call me a softy but I remember playing on Friday nights and still being sore at Monday's practice.

If a kid is playing in both the JV and Varsity basketball game it is unlikely he's playing a large number of minutes in both games. They are likely playing the whole JV game and subbing in a time or two for the Varsity game or vice versa. Also, what's the main injury source for too much basketball? Likely some very sore legs? Football is much differant.

I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy. As Llama pointed out a kid playing Varsity football on Friday, JV on Monday, then, Varsity of Friday is only getting a lot of minutes in either the JV or Varsity games, not both.

In case your wondering, I was never in favor of 8man having their playoff games 6 days apart for 4 weeks in a row. Especially since most of those kids play virtually every down.

I understand. I was just pointing out that in most small schools the kids that are playing JV on Monday are also playing special teams on Friday. Sometimes you get a freshmen or sophomore that plays significant minutes on Fridays but also plays on Mondays just to get some experience. Generally speaking, I agree with you that playing Friday night (Varsity) and turning around and playing Monday (varsity) is not ideal. Under the circumstances, I think we have to be somewhat flexible in what we judge as "the public". I am trusting that Coach Jackson at HSC and Coach Frederickson at Twin River will do all that is possible to keep their athletes safe.
