Anonymous donor buys new data-tracking helmets for every player in Omaha

That will put a of heat on Lincoln, Millard, Elkhorn, etc. to follow suit.
Be nice if every school would just buy them Average helmet cost $250 just another $150 a kid for even small schools it would be a one time fee of an additional $5,250.00 for 35 players and a additional $500.00 a year to keep them replaced in a normal rotation, If $5250 breaks your school your in trouble and won't be around very long at all anyways. But for real its not that much more

another interesting fact, it took a donor to replace to this helmet and total cost was $364,000 for OPS schools, that is only .00081% of OPS $446,392,089.00 budget less than 1/4 of one percent of the yearly budget but they only did because they got a donor

Devil's advocate here, but it might be pretty tough to sit down as a school district and say that they are going to allocate $350,000 to purchase equipment that isn't necessarily required (a helmet yes, but not one that tracks data) to play the sport, and then have to tell other sports in the same school district that they don't get similar treatment. I could see a lot of coaches from other sports being mad about that sort of thing.

Super Devil's Advocate: This is basically supplying a paper trail of data to create liability on the part of the coaching staff, should they happen to not read the data correctly, put a kid back into a game, and then the child gets hurt.
