Early 2016-17 classification guess.

Based on this years basketball numbers and some wild speculation this is my early guess for classifications on the next cycle. All current co-ops are assumed to be renewed by November. The tie at the A/B line goes to South Sioux with a higher 2 year average. The cutoff at C-1/C-2 was based purely on geography for Lincoln Lutheran. Tie at the D-1/D-2 line puts BDS up based on a higher average than Osceola and Elkhorn Valley. I assumed that any teams at the top of 8 Man that were previously ineligible would remain in 8 man and any that were in a grace period and still were above the cutoff would move up. There are some 6 man rumors marked with 1 star. Ineligible 8 man teams are marked with 2. Any teams changing just based on my own speculation is 3 stars. If you hear of any teams announcing which way they are deciding let me know and I will adjust.

I've heard that as well, along with an article with an administrator from Benson saying they would have the numbers. But if I've read correctly, the numbers that will be certified are based on this September, and I believe the basketball numbers for this year are as well. If that's true than the 2 year average gives the tie break to SSC. I'll look into it more.

Almost wish Elkhorn South and Benson could just flip spots with South Sioux and North Platte. Would save on a lot of travel. I know NP has talked about going to Class B, whenever it happens. Seems like it may happen soon.

Big surprise to me is Bergan having such low numbers. I get the feeling if anyone opts up its them. Cambridge as well. If I recall correctly they opted up two cycles ago at 76. 71 may be too much, maybe not.

The classification numbers for basketball, along with all other sports except football (becasuse of the two-year cycle), are based on last November's numbers, NOT the numbers for the following year as will be used for the new football cycle.

Thank you for the insight. Judging by as tough as they played Scotus and how Scotus has played everyone else, they have a shot to be just as successful.

No they will be C2 Thayer Central is going 8-man and I think few others he has in C2 will go 8-man also, so a good chance the bottom 3 in C1 will also move down to C2

The enrollment numbers posted on this thread are not the same enrollment numbers that will be used for classification. The correct numbers were taken Sept 25th and are not yet available to the public. This is just a guess, as the title of the thread suggests. It gives people an idea of where schools are/were at relative to estimated cut lines.

I highly doubt it. They will be C2 next fall. But if they did move up they would still win 7-8 games in the regular season.

You're correct we discussed this earlier. I'm planning on digging into NDE numbers and trying to take a better guess this week.

Tradition helps no question. Aquinas always has nearly every boy out for football which is awesome.
