The NSAA Board of Directors met on September 15, 2022 at the NSAA Office in Lincoln with the following members present:
The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m.
1. The Board heard a request from NSIAAA Executive Director Bill Fitzgerald regarding membership registration.
2. It was moved to approve the Consent Agenda as presented. Items on the Consent Agenda included:
3. Moved to approve the 2022-2023 NSAA Budget. Motion Carried: 8-0
4. Moved to approve a second classification for traditional bowling (Class A and Class B) beginning with the 2022-23 season. Motion Carried: 8-0
5. The Board discussed NSAA Bylaw 2.7.5.2 International Transfer Student Eligibility.
6. Moved to set December 24 through 28 as the 2025 Moratorium dates. Motion Carried: 8-0
7. Moved to approve the 2022-23 Officials Manual. Motion Carried: 8-0
8. Moved to approve the 2022-23 Unified Sports, Bowling Manual. Motion Carried: 8-0
9. Moved to approve the 2022-23 Play Production and Speech Manuals. Motion Carried: 8-0
10. Moved to host the NSAA Class C Baseball Championship in Omaha for the 2022-23 season. Motion Carried: 8-0
11. The Board discussed issuing admission passes for sub-districts, districts and state championships for school cheerleaders, dance teams and pep bands.
12. The Board heard a presentation from the NSAA Student Advisory Committee.
13. The Board heard a presentation from the UNL Raikes Design Studio students regarding the NSAA website.
14. The Board held a discussion about the book "8 Ways to Support Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for All."
15. Moved to renew the contract for Custom Sports for a five year period from 2023 through 2028. Motion Carried: 8-0
16. Moved to allow Omaha Marian to opt-up in Music for the 2022-23 school year. Motion Carried: 8-0
17. Moved to allow Creighton to opt-up in Play Production for the 2022-23 school year. Motion Carried: 8-0
18. Moved to allow Norris to opt-up in Speech for the 2022-23 school year. Motion Carried: 8-0
19. Moved to allow Homer to opt-up in Speech for the 2022-23 school year. Motion Carried: 8-0
20. Moved to allow Crofton to opt-up in Play Production for the 2022-23 school year: Motion Carried: 8-0
21. The Board discussed the NSAA Student/Parent Consent Form.
22. Moved to enter into executive session at 11:52 a.m. to discuss staffing, to protect the interest of the public, and to prevent the needless injury to the reputation of an individual(s). Motion Carried: 8-0
23. Moved to exit executive session at 1:27 p.m. Motion Carried: 7-0 (Unzicker absent)
24. Moved to give the Executive Director the authority to adjust staff salaries for the current year. Motion Carried: 7-0 (Unzicker absent)
