As sub-district seedings were released today, who are some favorites? Any team guaranteed a wild card? Who's most likely to benefit from a Class B sub-state?

Lots of good sub-district final matchups Thursday.
Wahoo v. Wahoo Neumann is gonna be a dogfight. I think Neumann will play with a chip on their shoulder and pull the upset

Yutan v. Elmwood-Murdock I think Yutan avenges it's only loss of the season, EM gets a wildcard

BRLD v. Oakland Craig. No love lost here. BRLD is in regardless barring a huge upset, Seagren and Oakland are always dangerous. Part of me wonders if BRLD plays complacent knowing they're in...BRLD by 15.

Battle Creek v. LHNE. LHNE owns 2 wins over BC this season, but BC always finds their 2nd wind in the post-season. I think Battle Creek gets it done

I don't think O'Neill will get in. They are 6th in points, so they might have an outside chance to get in.

Possible District Finals:
Auburn vs Syracuse
Wahoo vs LVSS
Winnebego vs Broken Bow
North Bend vs Lincoln Christian
GICC vs Minden
Ogalla vs Gordon-Rushville

Haven't checked all the hangers, but there will be a couple really good teams left at home. C1 is tough and open this year.
My predictions would be:
District Champs: Auburn, Wahoo, Winnebago, North Bend, GICC, Gordon-Rushville
Wildcards: Broken Bow, LVSS
O'Neill looks to be the odd man out if Battle Creek doesn't win out to state as it will cost them 6 points. As long as LVSS doesn't lose to Arlington tonight.
Another possible "upset" would be Lincoln Christian over North Bend. North Bend seems to be up and down in terms of playing to their potential.
  • Wahoo (22-2), 45.4583
  • Winnebago (19-5), 44.8333
  • Broken Bow (22-2), 44.5833
  • Grand Island Central Catholic (18-6), 43.9583
  • Logan View-Scribner-Snyder (20-4), 43.9167
  • O'Neill (20-3), 43.8696
  • North Bend Central (21-3), 43.6667
  • Lincoln Christian (16-7), 43.4348
  • Gordon-Rushville (20-4), 43.3333
  • Cozad (18-6), 42.8750
  • Adams Central (15-9), 42.7500
  • Bishop Neumann (14-9), 42.5652
  • Boone Central/Newman Grove (17-7), 42.2917

I agree with 99% of this, but I think it would be an upset if North Bend beat Lincoln Christian. I've seen both teams play and Lincoln Christian is the better team.

If we do see a Broken Bow vs. Winnebago match-up, I like Broken Bow. I watched Bago play BRLD and was not impressed. I saw Bago play at the Heartland Hoops Classic as well, but they played their bench players the whole game and LaPointe was injured.

That brings me to GICC, who only beat a half-staffed Winnebago team by 6. They have a lot of work to do if they want to be hoisting the trophy in a few weeks, but with a great coach like Tino Martinez at the helm, anything is possible.

These are all assumptions by some old fart on a message board though, I'll be more than happy to eat crow if I'm wrong! Good luck to all teams!
