Anyone's best possible guesses by watching teams who would be D1/D2 state tournament teams for girls...just for fun! It appears top 5 in D1 are solidified in position and top 3 in D2 are as well...or if all holds chalk district final matchups!

I can tell you this much in regards to the state tournament. D2 is pretty much a 3 horse race at the top with FCSH, Overton, Wynot. Plainview at the 4 spot is not in the conversation.
In D1 it is a battle for the runner-up spot. Pender is the "class" of the class if you will. And yes I know GACC is in the discussion, but after watching both teams multiple times this year....it doesn't appear to be close.

It's crazy because GACC is pretty solid. They just grind teams down.

Pender must be unreal, I haven't seen them play. Pretty wild in such a small radius that Pender, GACC and Bancroft-Rosalie are that good in girls hoops.

Should make for a real good D1 state tournament field, I think Summerland, St. Mary's, Johnson Brock, McCool Jct., Southern Valley, Elgin Pope John, all have good shots at getting there along with Pender, GACC, BR, district final matchups should be good!

C2-4 Girls is a dandy as well. Neumann, Yutan, Bergan, CedarBluffs. Possible that three teams come out of that sub for a district final if the ball bounces the right way.

seems there have been some attempts to prevent the loaded sub-districts while others have teams with losing records in them. I believe a proposal passed that would regionalize the state and determine sub-districts via a serpentine. This seems to be much needed...

Looks like your opinion isn’t valid!

Looks like your opinion isn’t valid!
The two play in 2 completely different conferences. East husker is super weak compared to midstates.
Both teams are very good and could beat each other on any given night.
The difference I see is in coaching!
One coach is humble and makes it about his team and program and the other makes it about himself, making sure all eyes are on him as he whistles and yells at refs while he has players from his own team hurt on the court

Opinion not valid? Little harsh. I am man enough to admit that I was wrong with this take. It was a fantastic girls basketball game, and I am very confident that we will see that matchup again in Lincoln. Some huge shots, and FT's down the stretch by GACC. Kuddos to them and their squad!

I will say this when you have a tough schedule like GACC does and you go 17-2 and you beat Pender who some said was unbeatable, you are now the best team at this moment in D1 and should be respected as so

I think D1 is loaded with good quality teams, will make for some good district finals....GACC and Pender probably are the top 2!

For me, there is no Clear cut #1 at this point in the season. That is why we send them to Lincoln...to find out. There are teams that will be in Lincoln that have not played anyone else there.

Basketball is about matchups. When a great perimeter team faces a great perimeter defense, the game changes immensely. What made that team great all year is negated the moment they step on the court.

We saw a Wahoo boys team a couple years back that many believed could and would win Class B. They bumped into a terrible matchup and got beat by Auburn. That is just 1 example and we all know that there are many.

D1 will be very interesting. GACC, Pender, St Mary’s, southern valley, J-B, EPPJ, Summerland, and add in state champ Centura. That’ll be a good state tournament
