Would Silver Lake be the higher seed over Loomis based on record?

POINT SYSTEM TIEBREAKER
1- If only two teams have identical point averages and are tied for one of the qualifying spots and/or
higher seed and the teams have played each other, the team that won the contest between the
two teams in question will qualify for the State Play-offs and/or get the higher seed.
2- If the two teams have not played each other or if more than two teams are tied, Step 3 will be
used to determine which team qualifies for the State Play-offs and/or get the higher seed.
3- If two or more teams have identical point averages and are tied for one or both of the remaining
qualifying spots and/or higher seed, the team, or teams with the greatest number of wins over
first division teams (within their classification – Class A & B only) will be selected and/or given the
higher seed. If only two teams remain TIED with the same number of wins over first division
teams after this step and the two teams have played each other, Step 1 will be used to determine
the qualifier for the State Play-offs and/or get the higher seed.
4- If a tie still exists, the team or teams with the greatest number of wins over first and second
division teams (within their classification – Class A & B only) will be selected and/or given the
higher seed. If only two teams remain TIED with the same number of wins over first and second
division teams after this step and the two teams have played each other, Step 1 will be used to
determine the qualifier for the State Play-offs and/or get the higher seed.
5- If two or more teams have identical point averages and are tied for one or both of the remaining
qualifying spots and/or higher seed, the team or teams playing the greatest number of first
division teams (within their classification – Class A & B only) will be selected and/or given the
higher seed. If only two teams remain TIED with the same number of games played against first
division teams after this step and the two teams have played each other, Step 1 will be used to
determine the qualifier for the State Play-offs and/or get the higher seed.
6- If two or more teams have identical point averages and are tied for one or both of the remaining
qualifying spots and/or higher seed, each team’s opponents’ wins, and losses will be totaled, and
the winning percentages calculated. The team whose opponents have the highest winning
percentage based on this calculation will be selected as the qualifier for the State Play-offs and/or
get the higher seed. If only two teams remain TIED with the same opponent winning percentage
after this step and the two teams have played each other, Step 1 will be used to determine the
qualifier for the State Play-offs and/or get the higher seed.

Yes. If Silver Lake has and Loomis were to tie and Silver Lake has a 5-3 record, they would be the higher seed between the two teams.
That is not accurate... The official tiebreaker rules are listed in my previous post.

I think all of us are being a bit presumptuous about Wynot beating Bloomfield this weekend.
I agree 100%, that game could go either way. Bloomfield winning will really mix up the seedings. That game makes week 8 very interesting. I think either way there will be great match-ups in round 1 and 2 of playoffs.

I'm confused. Don't your tiebreaker rules point out if one team is 5-3 and they tie with a team that is 4-4, and those teams never played in the regular season, then the team with the better record would be the higher seed?

Bloomfield vs Wynot could impact a lot of teams if Bloomfield wins. Could impact Crofton's overall seeding in D1.

It has more to do with quality of wins. Most wins over Div 1 teams, then if still tied, it goes to wins over Div 1 & 2 teams, then if still tied it goes to played the most Div 1 teams

Looks like a lot of Div 2 and Div 3 "teams" could move down to Div 3 and Div 4 wins this week. It will all be figured out by Saturday.

Boyd County should go West. The school is located farther west than St. Mary's and I think maybe Central Valley goes east. Boyd would be in a tie breaker with Mullen. Not sure who wins the tie breaker though.

How are you getting Sacred Heart in here at all? They are 38th after week 7. Kenesaw is 30th and not even in your bracket at all.

I did my best to predict the final week of the season. I did edit my previous post to include Kenesaw. I had an error in my spreadsheet that pulled St. Mary's instead of Kenesaw...
Here are #31 - #36 after all predictions and updates to points. Sacred Heart has the tie breaker over both St. Mary's and CWC... Obviously there is a chance I predicted some games incorrectly, which would switch around some of the points. This is just my best guess...

Ok, fair enough. So you're saying they have a chance if everything falls exactly right?

With a Sacred Heart loss, that drops Neb. Lutheran's win vs. them to a Div 4 and drops Neb. Lutheran's total to 36 which doesn't qualify them for a tiebreaker

Yes
All the 2 and 6 win teams are now listed as Div 3 and Div 1 teams respectively... If those teams lose, they drop to Div. 4 and Div. 2 teams and that changes the points for ALL of their opponents...
And there are some hard to call games, like Bloomfield v. Wynot...

A lot can happen. This is a fun time of year for high school football!

Wynot - 356.3 yards per game, 209 yards allowed per game, 42 ppg, 13 ppg allowed

Howells-Dodge - 319 yards per game, 242.7 yards allowed per game, 44.5 ppg, 22.3 ppg allowed

Sandhills-Thedford - 375.3 yards per game, 217.2 yards allowed per game, 53.1 ppg, 23.7 ppg allowed

Did you pull that off of MaxPreps?

Ha.. yes, so of course it could be wrong. The total defensive yardage stats for Dundy-County Stratton, Sandhills-Thedford, St. Francis, and South Loup could be a bit off. A couple of their opponents didn't report stats. But they were all games where they dominated so I actually might have given them better numbers than they were as I just added a 50 yard total for those games.

How is district champ decided if there is a 3 way tie. For example Ainsworth gets beat by Boyd County, who was beat by EPPJ, who then lost to Ainsworth.

head to head

Let me preface this answer by saying I don't know the correct answer. However, wouldn't the Power points still come into play if you had a 3 way tie at the top where Team A beat Team B, Team B beat Team C, and Team C beats Team A?

How is district champ decided if there is a 3 way tie. For example Ainsworth gets beat by Boyd County, who was beat by EPPJ, who then lost to Ainsworth.
This is right out of the NSAA Manual.
Steps for Determining District Places
1. To determine 1st place, the win-loss record within the district will be the first consideration.
2. If teams are tied, competition between the tied teams will be considered.
3. If the tie cannot be broken by Step 2, the overall winning percentage of all games played will be considered.
4. If at any step there are only two teams tied, refer to Step 2 to break the tie.
5. If the tie cannot be broken by Step 3, determine which team(s) played the greatest number of teams with a winning record.
6. If the tie remains, the point system average and point system tiebreaker will be used

What does the state do with forfeits? I know in the past the team could decide not to take the game since they didnt play it so it wouldnt count against them in power points. I know Osmond and Cedar Bluffs forfeited their season which would change alot of power points for both D1 and D2 teams?

Burwell, A/L, and CWC unexpected wins will likely shake things up a bit.

Wynot holds on over Bloomfield in a classic.
