D1 and D2 need to get rid of the east/west split. Getting rid of the split was the best thing that happened to C1 and C2.

D-2 State championship today at 4:30 in Humphrey.

Thats what you get when you have old format of east and west

IF there was no East/West split, this is how the seeds would have been:
1. Humphrey St Francis
2. Bloomfield
3. Garden County
4. Kenesaw
5. Falls City Sacred Heart

So there goes that theory for this year. Honestly I like the proposal to have the first round east/west then after reseed the remaining 16 statewide. The point system itself is a whole other thread.

It is clear that the two best teams this year were HSF and FCSH. Getting rid of the East/West split would not put them on opposite sides of the bracket though. With the way the tiers and wild card points are calculated, it would be a crap shoot every year. There would be a chance though and as it is now, they would always play at some point to get to Lincoln.

agree if you are still going to have 32 teams in then east west split first round then reseed rest

What does this re-seed accomplish? If you want the re-seed to separate the "best" teams, will it do this?
No...a re-seed after the round of 32 would have given us a Burwell-Osceola/HP second round game. It would have done the exact opposite of what the desired outcome is. The top half of the bracket is absolutely stacked. I don't know that I have seen a more ineffective idea on this board in a long time. The bracket couldnt get much more loaded on one side.

D1 with a "re-seed" at the round of 16
1- Howells-Dodge
16- Creighton

9- Osceola-High Plains
8- Burwell

5- Fullerton
12- Neligh-Oakdale

13- Cross County
4- Cambridge

3- Elmwood-Murdock
14- LHNE

11- Dundy County Stratton
6- Arcadia-Loup City

7- Elm Creek
10- Sutherland

15- Tri County
2- BDS

Let's make this easy. Keep the east/ west split. The regular season determines your seeding in each division. The one seed on the east side plays the 16 seed on the west side, 2 plays 15, and so on. The one seed in the west plays the 16 seed in the east, and so on. This way the top teams on each side get to eliminate the weaker opponents on the other side. So in theory, with all the top seeds winning, the second round would pit the one seed in the east against the 8 seed in the west and the one seed in the west against the 8 seed in the east. And so on 2's against 7's, 3's against 6's and so on. Round threes has the east 1 seed against the 4 west seed and so on. If all the top seeds win, we will end up in semis with 1 seed east playing 2 seed west; and 1 seed west playing 2 seed east. The finals will be some combination of 1's and 2's.
This would take care of the complaint that teams have about playing the same teams for a second time in the first couple rounds of playoffs, instead of playing some easy team from "out west" or "over east" that really never beat anybody.
It would also maximize distance travelled, which is good for me since I own a chain gas stations across the state. Win- Win situation. Its really the "perfect formula". The only thing I have not figured out is how to eliminate any upsets, so no east team plays another east team. And no west team plays another west team. There has got to be a way to do this.

Which is why the re-seed idea is a horrible idea.

Also, a critical point in what I now call my Simple Crossover Formula for the Ideal High School Football Playoff or "SCFFTIHSFP" for short. NO re-seeding after the second round. The East-West, East-West, alternating from top to bottom of bracket.

I am personally not a fan of the East-West, but certainly understand why it exists.

I would propose adding a 9th game and cutting the field to 16 with no East-West. Just seed them and away we go. Sure the bracket would look much different than it does now. I don't see that as a bad thing.

There will be geographical advantages and disadvantages. That is just kind of how it is.

if you keep east west then adjust the wildcard points, the percentages are way off and was made for a 9 game schedule
