It is district track week in Nebraska. Below are the state qualifying standards in each class and the district assignments:
CLASS A
- There are four districts in Class A. District meets will be held on Friday, May 10
- The top four finishers in each individual running event will qualify for state, plus the next 8 fastest times of the non-qualifiers, regardless of place in a finals event for a total maximum of 24 qualifiers. If there is a tie for the final qualifying spot, none of the tied shall qualify. However, individuals tied for the last state qualifying spot in races of 200 meters or less must compete for that qualifying spot in a run-off. Only the winner of the run-off will qualify for the state meet. In all other individual events those individuals tied in the district meet or in time comparisons for the state meet will not qualify unless the tied individuals ran in the same race and one was picked ahead of the other.
- The top three finishers in the relay events will qualify for state, plus the next 4 fastest times of the non-qualifiers, regardless of place in a finals event, with a maximum of 16 relay teams qualifying for state. If there is a tie for the final qualifying spot, none of the tied shall qualify
- In the field events, the top four finishers will automatically qualify for state. Additionally, athletes meeting or exceeding the automatic qualifying mark at the district meet, shall also qualify for state. Those marks are listed below. (In the pole vault, athletes finishing first, second, third or fourth must clear at least 9' 6" in the boys pole vault and 6' 6" in the girls pole vault in order to qualify for state.)
- In the event the FAT timing system would fail in any district in any running event, any individual running event would qualify the top six places and any relay event would qualify the top four places. This would pertain only to those events where the FAT failed.
Automatic Field Event Qualifying Marks
The qualifying marks are determined by using the average distance/height of the 8th place finisher at the state track meet for the past three years.
