Premise of Stu's article is that some schools should be allowed to opt down. Colorado allows it. The idea is being talked about, here are some possible conditions:

1. The sport asking to opt-down has a varsity winning percentage of less than .250 for the previous four seasons

2. The opt-down will be for one classification cycle

3. The school must show evidence that success will be limited if participation is in the regular classification

4. A recommendation from a receiving league/conference must accompany the request (Colorado is big on the league concept)

5. The school shall not be approved to play down for a second consecutive cycle if during the two-year cycle, the team win percentage was at or above .500

6. The team playing down will not be eligible for postseason consideration in the classification for which it is playing down
