I often wondered why Hickman doesn't play Class A summer baseball like Skutt, Gross, Ralston, etc. do? Seems like they are built more to compete at that level and would be able to easily qualify in a 16 team state field.

They use the NSAA enrollment figures to determine class. Class A is 600-6000. Class B is 161-599 and C is 160 and under. Teams have the ability to opt up to A if they want to be eligible for the National tourney.

Page 8 gives the enrollment numbers and 10-11 talk about how they do enrollment.

You can opt up to Class A if you want. Gross, Skutt and Ralston always opt up to A.
