I know it was brought up in another thread, but looks like 2 of the 4 wildcards will come out of C1-2 and depending on upsets 3 of the 4 wildcards could come from C2-1. Winner of those two subs will have earned it for sure.

I looked through this and immediately thought "Wow, C1-3 looks real friendly"! I believe you meant C1-3 rather than C1-2. And yes you are right. That one is really crowded.

D2-7 has the number 2, 5, 8, and 17 in wild card points.
I struggle to say a stacked district is counting a 14-7 and 14-6 team as making it stacked. come one man
It is a good district

So the 14-7 team lost to #2 in D2, #17 in C2, twice to #6 in D1, #3 in D1, and twice to #1 in C2....That'd qualify them as a very good team in D2!

The 14-6 team lost to #5 and #9 in D2, #1 in C2, #11 in D1, and the one "bad" loss in game 2 of the year to #21 in D1.

Two of the 4 wildcards come out of this sub-district, while two sub-districts don't have a top 16 team, and 5 subs have 1 team in the top 16. That makes this sub-district stacked!

Some people undervalue the stress or impact of playing in a sub-district with 2 or 3 of the top 16 in it has on teams. In girls, no one wants to lose...have 10 days off and then be expected to play a 1 game winner advances to state. In boys...no one wants to lose late regardless. Players and coaches who watch film, game plan, ect. put added stress on themselves regardless of if they're a 'lock' to make the district final.

This is a good post. Good points for sure.

There is always a story behind the numbers. Most often, the story is the other way around where a team that is sitting at 20-2 (or whatever great record) has won a pile of games over sub .500 teams.

If it was C-1 or larger, no probably not a stacked sub-district. But for a class D, especially class D-2, that is a stacked sub-district. D-2 by nature is always going to have the worst overall records because of playing up in the regular season.

Class D1 and D2 have zero stacked districts
Isn't that the ideal situation? There are usually one or two subs that have 3+ teams from the top 16, so to say that there is only one of those in D2 this year seems to be a big win in the best teams winning through sub-districts and the most likely collection of the 8 best teams once the state tournament comes around.

sorry I just disagree that in my opinion is not a stacked district, it is a good district but nothing crazy

They need to take the top 32 in points and seed 8 4 team districts.
All others don't make the tournament. Similar to football. Quit wasting time playing teams with 0-5 wins on the season.
This right here! Also kinda curious if any 5 win up to 10 win team has ever made a Cinderella run to state?

Any idea where they were in PowerPoint ratings that year? They play up a lot with their conference schedule.
They were in top 32 for sure with 11 wins The top 32 is plenty for sure If you only have 11 wins vs all D1 and D2 compitition it would be close but if you play any kind of a decent schedule you will be in the top 20

About 20(!) years ago, Lincoln Christian was state runner-up with a 13-13 record. They were 7-12 right before sub-districts.

again I am betting they played up a class a bunch so wildcard points would have them easily in the top 32 BUT either way it would safe to say that the top 32 would take care of anyone who has a shot at a state title 99.99% of the time

For sure. We're talking about outliers here. It is memorable when teams like that make a run though.

They were C1. But had 3 games vs B teams. Those were also the days of predetermined district finals. C1-1 vs C1-2, C1-3 vs C1-4, etc.
They beat a 12-8 Milford team to make state.

so if you design a system that is better for the top 16 teams and not chancing a stacked sub district you could easily, use a system like football and better serve basketball. I would even be for system that split wildcard points 1 to 64 into a east west first round game and then the 32 reseed into a bracket with home team hosting round of 32 and 16 and final 8 to Lincoln OR better yet wait till final 4 and all in Pinnacle

One other outlier. In the late 90s or early 00s, Hastings high was 0-whatever going into districts and rattled off 3 straight won’t to advance to state. They played the A teams in their old conference that year, and they were B. Believe they lost a close game in the opening round, but memory isn’t what it used to be on that.

Agree to disagree. I feel 2 wildcards coming from one sub makes that a stacked sub.
Not to mention 3 qualifiers. The D1 that NENEB referenced last year also had 3 (All of which played in 3 btw). South Loup may very well have qualified but caught up in a numbers crunch and never got the chance. IIRC they were like #8 and in a bunny bracket. I'd say both qualify as "stacked".

I could live with that, although all heck will break loose the first time #28 dares to qualify by beating the #'s 30, 31, and 32 that fate paired them with...

Was that the same year a team brought the wrong uniforms and had to wear sweaty jerseys loaned from a team from the immediate prior game? I feel like that was around the same time in Class B.

Yes. They had to wear Schuyler white tops with their black shorts. Schuyler played GINW in the opening game.
