You know....you are right, I should not do that. I'm going to take them downDon't want to ruffle any feathers but I have to share my thoughts. I understand the purpose of recognizing the undefeated teams. I do not understand the purpose or the logic behind listing the winless teams.
Would sure hate for someone’s feelings to get hurt. Such a soft point of view.Don't want to ruffle any feathers but I have to share my thoughts. I understand the purpose of recognizing the undefeated teams. I do not understand the purpose or the logic behind listing the winless teams.
I've been a coach for over 40 years and I've been on both sides of the spectrum. It has absolutely nothing to do with "hurt feelings". Just no reason to "kick a dog when it's down".Would sure hate for someone’s feelings to get hurt. Such a soft point of view.
HIGHPLAINS COACH: You are totally missing the point. No one is ignoring the fact that a team this year, this sport or any other year or sport that is/was winless isn't very talented. (I think they know that) The point was there is no need to set here or anywhere else and make light of the fact that they are not very talented. So, we now pretend really awful teams aren't awful? Or maybe that they just don't exist. Next step is not to mention losing records? Or even teams with any losses? 😊 I can't wait to see a late season news story: "In a shcoker, Tech, who had a secret record, beat previously unbeaten Eastview...". I take no pleasure in kicking a dog when it's down either, (unless of course the dog has bitten me and richly deserves it) but pretending those teams don't exist, to me, is a greater insult, and a disservice to their efforts and the sports in general. Not terribly realistic to ignore those teams collective status and then celebrate their first win, to my way of thinking. I'm guessing this attitude is one of the reasons that losing programs have participation issues.
