LINCOLN - News Channel Nebraska announced today that the TV network will televise games from the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds of the Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) State Basketball Tournaments.

News Channel Nebraska (NCN), through a partnership with the National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) and the NSAA, will broadcast live all six boys and girls quarterfinal games from the Bob Devaney Sports Center each Thursday. NCN will then broadcast all six girls and boys semifinal games from Pinnacle Bank Arena each Friday.

"NCN is at its best when we welcome student athletes into the homes of place bound Nebraskans who maintain strong ties to their communities," NCN Founder Mike Flood said. "Thanks to our continued partnership with the NSAA and the NFHS Network, we are so pleased to be able to provide quarter- and semifinal state basketball action live from Lincoln."

The NCN Sports team has broadcast more than 100 high school basketball games on TV in the 2018-19 season. The network has carried more than 1,000 high school sporting events in its four years on the air. NCN is no stranger to breaking new ground when it comes to live broadcasts of NSAA events. NCN broadcast the NSAA State Play Production Championships each of the last three years, showed a Class A semifinal football game on TV for the first time ever in 2018, and has carried the Nebraska High School Unified Bowling Championships in each of the last two seasons.

NCN's broadcasts from state basketball will employ multiple camera angles, instant replay and three-person announce crews.

News Channel Nebraska is the most widely distributed news network in Nebraska, reaching over 550,000 homes. It was founded in 2015 and is headquartered in Norfolk. It is an independent TV network focused on rolling news coverage and live events. NCN is operated by Flood Communications, which owns eight radio stations, Telemundo Nebraska, and News Channel Nebraska.

Updated original post with girls quarterfinal games that will be televised

That’s pretty awesome. But I’d imagine some of the folks from C2 D2 are going to be at least a little mad that they are totally left off. can’t make everyone happy though. It’s good to see someone trying to broadcast more, rather than the token NETV championship broadcast.

Hell I don’t even care if there’s commentary. Just someone moving the camera to show us what’s happening.

this could cut down on attendance and NSAA won't like that. plus the damn weather is cold which is not good either.

Maybe, but I'm sure NCN is also paying a good chunk of money to NSAA which would surely offset any perceived attendance loss.
