The NSAA Board of Directors met on May 19, 2023 at the Embassy Suites in LaVista with the following members present:
Also in attendance: Kim Snyder, Nebraska Department of Education liaison; Dr. Zainab Rida, Nebraska Department of Education; Bobby Truhe, NSAA Legal Counsel; Darren Tobey, Superintendent - Broken Bow; Brian Hansen, NSAA Baseball Official.
Meeting was called to order at 8:00 a.m.
1. Moved to approve the Consent Agenda. Items on the Consent Agenda included:
Motion Carried: 7-0
2. Moved to ratify the Class A Caucus wrestling state championship seeding proposal. Motion Carried: 7-0
3. Moved to ratify the Class B Caucus softball contest limitation proposal. Motion Carried: 7-0
4. Moved to adopt NSAA Bylaw 2.12.2 Approved Ruling: "A Nebraska Teaching Certificate shall be defined as any certificate or permit issued by the Nebraska Department of Education that allows an individual to teach." Motion Carried: 7-0
5. Moved to approve the 2023-24 NSAA Calendar. Motion Carried: 7-0
6. Moved to accept the resignation of Dan Masters with regret. Motion Carried: 7-0
7. The Board thanked Ryan Ruhl for his service and welcomed Broken Bow Superintendent Darren Tobey as the new District 4 Board Member.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:59 a.m.
The next meeting of the NSAA Board of Directors will be a work session/retreat on June 14-15, 2023 in Kearney.
