The NSAA Board of Directors met November 13, 2014 at the Downtown Holiday Inn in Lincoln, Nebraska with the following members present:

District I - Mark Norvell, Fillmore Central
District I - Wendy Henrichs, Lincoln East
District II - Dr. Bob Reznicek, Boys Town
District II - Nolan Beyer, Millard Public Schools
District III - Jay Bellar, Battle Creek
District IV - Dr. Brian Maher, Kearney
District V - Alan Garey, Medicine Valley
District VI - Troy Unzicker, Alliance

Also in attendance were: Rick Moses, Nebraska Department of Education liaison; Rex Schultze, NSAA Legal Counsel; Dick Beechner and Chuck Johnson, Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame.

The meeting was called to order at 8:00 a.m.

1. Moved to approve the Consent Agenda which included: the agenda for the meeting as amended; the minutes of the October 9, 2014 Board of Directors meeting; the minutes of the October 21, 2014 Caucus Review Committee Meeting; Financial Statements; approval for cooperative sponsorship renewals for Loup County and Sargent High Schools (instrumental and vocal music); Sargent and Loup County High Schools (volleyball, boys cross country, girls cross country, boys basketball, girls basketball, boys track and girls track); and Omaha Roncalli Catholic and Omaha Duchesne Academy for softball; and Alma and Southern Valley High Schools (boys cross country and girls cross country). Motion Carried: 8-0

2. Moved to lift the board suspension on Approved Ruling 2.13.2 - Opting Up a Classification which states, "A school may not opt up in any NSAA sponsored athletic program. A school may opt up in NSAA sponsored fine arts programs such as Music, Journalism, Play Production and Speech. A school electing to opt up in any fine arts program must notify the NSAA office by the registration deadline for that activity's season." Motion Failed: 4-4 (For: Henrichs, Bellar, Maher, Garey | Against: Norvell, Reznicek, Beyer, Unzicker)

3. Moved to approve the Audit. Motion Carried: 8-0

4. Moved to make a one-time financial contribution of $15,000 to the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame. Motion Carried: 8-0

5. Moved to repeal Approved Ruling 1.6.1.2 - Reservation of Rights which states: "Nebraska School Activities Association postseason and championships are the collective property of the NSAA and not of any individual member school. The NSAA reserves the right to promote and advance the membership's interests and publication information; exclusive arrangements to create recognition and exposure for educationally based commercialization of NSAA sponsored postseason and championship events; appropriate proprietary interests, and the use of images or transmissions identifying contest officials, spectators, and member schools' students, personnel, log and marks." Motion Carried: 8-0

6. Moved to accept the bid submitted by Hastings to host the 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 NSAA State Softball Championships. Motion Carried: 8-0

7. The Board continued discussion on postseason live broadcasting and generally support moving forward with approved guidelines.

There being no further items the Board adjourned the meeting at 10:25 a.m.

The next meeting of the Board of Directors will be held December 10, 2014 at the Norfolk Lodge & Suites in Norfolk, Nebraska.
