So I took a look at the "What if" scenario for a 16 team D-1 bracket. I don't know if this year would be an anomaly or not, but it sets up real well. All of the 10 district champions would be represented, plus there would be no regular season rematches. There would be some very good first round games. In my opinion another thing it eliminates is either the West or East bracket being more difficult. Last year I though the West really loaded, while this year the East appears to be the tougher bracket. Here is what the bracket would look like:
#1 BDS (8-0)
#16 Clearwater-Orchard (5-3)
#9 Lourdes Central Catholic (7-1)
#8 Burwell (7-1)
#5 Amherst (8-0)
#12 Clarkson-Leigh (7-1)
#13 Elgin Public/Pope John (6-2)
#4 Guardian Angels CC (8-0)
#3 East Butler ((8-0)
#14 Pender (6-2)
#11 Blue Hill (6-2)
#6 Perkins County (8-0)
#7 Hemmingford (7-1)
#10 High Plains (6-2)
#2 Creighton (8-0)
#15 Neligh-Oakdale (6-2)
First Five Out:
Diller-Odell (6-2)
Ansley-Litchfield (4-4)
Arapahoe (4-4)
Dundy County Stratton (4-4)
Howells-Dodge (3-5)
