Lincoln Northwest is forfeiting its game against Beatrice this week due to injuries

Saw where the Sutherland game ended right at 2 AM. Even with a running clock. A record of some sort?

Holyoke 32, Hershey 19

I would be curious to know if there's been a later game. 4 hour, 53 minute rain (mainly lightning) delay. All in all though, I honestly think it was the right decision. Both teams wanted to play that night and officials couldn't do it Saturday.

What is going on at Guardian Angels? They have not been competitive in football or basketball the past couple of years and they seem to have a lot of turnover in the AD department and boys basketball. Strange to see them getting blown out on a regular basis, 60-14 this week against a good Stanton, but what is going on?? Who is coaching the basketball team now? New AD?

Former Bluejay Bryan Mendlik will be coaching the boys basketball team.
New AD is West Point native (Public grad), Josh Batenhorst.

When you constantly have high expectations and aren't realistic, this is what happens. They ran the last two coaches out of there after one year for each. Their previous administration never had the coaches back, which puts a lot of pressure on the AD. At least their girls programs are successful, but that comes with consistency.

I've also been told that they have no weight program in the summer. Kids just come in and stand around. If you want to be successful, you have to get in the weight room. Just my two cents though

Ponca has forfeited this week's game vs Battle Creek. Anyone with half a brain knew this was bound to happen this season. Shame on their AD and school board. Head coach, though a big reason why the participation rate is low, advised to drop to 8 man. Also shame on NSAA membership for still not doing more to address the continued forfeits in the state.

Do you think member school will raise 8-man to at least 50 I know 56 was voted down but with 8 or more teams each year over 47 You would think 50 or 53 would happen

I'm curious the reason why schools vote no. Is there any reason other than afraid of more teams being in 8-man and their chances to make a ridiculously large 32 team playoff bracket? This ongoing saga of fortfiets is ridiculous.

I do understand Ponca's reasons for staying, as much as I don't like it. But, even with them deciding to stay this was forecasted to happen at some point in the season so ultimately because of that I feel like they should have dropped to 8man and been ineligible.

What's worse, being a D1 and playing an ineligible team or being C2 and not playing a game because the other team forfeits? I lean to the latter being worse.

Is this week Battle Creek's homecoming?

How is a bad program anybody else's problem? The NSAA already lets C2 schools beat up on D1's (Looking directly at Palmyra) I despise "opt-downs". But since it's allowed, have them play EACH OTHER. I wonder if Ponca's injury situation improves for WP-Beemer. Maybe not every school can, or should, have a football program.

a lot of truth in what you are saying

I've said it for years. The schools who chose to opt down to 8 man from 11 man should only play a schedule against each other. They can have their own district. It's ridiculous those teams can affect power points.
I agree, if they want to play football then travel to those opting down also and play football Its not that complicated

It needs to be raised. I'd love to see no opt downs, but that won't happen. Go to 5 classes.

(Using the 22-23 Classification numbers)

Class A: Top 24 teams by enrollment. (Omaha South, 1,135 to Omaha Benson, 593)
Class B: 32 teams, enrollment from one student from lowest A number (Elkhorn South 552 to Plattsmouth 184, Gross opts up)
Class C: 60 teams (would bring York down from B, C1 stays the same, brings the top 21 teams from C2 in, lowest enrollment would be Norfolk Catholic at 60. So York at 170 enrollment, NC at 60)
Class D1: This would still be 8 man (Enrollment from 59-35) 73 teams, would include all of Class D1, the top 4 schools in D2, Johnson-Brock, South Loup, EPPJ, and Blue Hill and the lowest 14 teams left in C2, starting with West Holt.
Class D2: This would be 6 man. (Enrollment from 34 on down) Ainsworth would be the largest at 35 students all the way down to Sioux County at 11.
