Basketball Classifications

Football is the only sport in which the NSAA sets the regular season schedules. Teams can schedule whomever in the other sports, so the NSAA can do the assignments later and use enrollment data more relevant to the activity.
Correct, but that's not a justification for why the nsaa drops the ball on other sports. They have no problem coming up with football districts 9 months before the season starts, but struggle to get district assignments weeks before other sports begin. They make a big deal about releasing districts for football, then will release districts for other sports without any announcement. Why can't they have a strict timeline for when classifications and districts are released in other sports? That has nothing to do with who is responsible for making a teams schedule.

I believe they also bumped the registration date back a month, as in today's world they don't need as much time to get their work done when it comes to classifications and district assignments. This also helps to better prevent schools from declaring they'll be playing, and then having to cancel the varsity season months later when they find out they don't have enough kids going out to field a varsity team.

There is a press release anytime they put districts out. Here is the one for Play Production. This is what they do for every sport. They don't do anything special for football. They release football early so that schools can then put together their wish list of teams to play. This is how you keep rivalries like Scotus vs Aquinas, Seward vs Aurora, ect alive.

I find it interesting that in football a team can be D2 and in basketball they jump to C2.
Who did that? I don't play close enough attention. Football was classified in January of 2021, so they could have had a low boys number for that classification and will be back in C2 for the upcoming football cycle.

I know of a few 8 man schools who were looking at the 2 year waiver or what to do since their population has grown a little. Really tough for some of these schools to predict what's right to do when they have to look at:
*Next Cycle
*The Cycle after that
*Then most probably try looking what it'll be like in 10 years and so on

If your talking about HLHF, it looks like their boys numbers went from 33 a year ago in 9,10,11 to 43 this year. They would have been in D2 last year for football but this year would have been D1 if it was adjusted every year instead of a 2 year cycle.

That’s not a press release, it’s a tweet. Here is an example. The nsaa opens its doors and does a playoff release show for the football playoffs. Which, everyone already knows the brackets prior to the show. Haven’t seen the state tournament show for softball hosted at the nsaa office.

1. You previously stated that they make a big deal about releasing districts.....they don't though....that's why I linked a tweet, as that's what they do for all districts releases.

2. The NSAA doesn't do work to put on the playoff preview done by local sports guys. The NSAA doesn't pay for that and doesn't ask the guys to do it. The guys have asked to use the NSAA media room for their work, and the NSAA said yes, you know since it's supporting high school athletics.

3. Anyone with the right purposes is allowed to use the NSAA office media and conference room, with approval of course. Several conferences have AD, Superintendent, or principal meetings there. Other groups have meetings there and then tour the Nebraska High School Hall of Fame across the hall.

4. The guys who do that State Playoff preview show probably give more attention to high school athletics than anyone else in this state. They currently release a weekly newsletter that covers all NSAA sports. They've written great pieces on coaches, families, athletes, and teams from all sports this fall and for a number of years.

You have missed the point.
