I see common sense prevailed allowing the Hershey vs. Ogallala bunny bracket game to be played in Hershey rather than both teams traveling to Chadron.

While the system is much better than in the past, I find it disturbing that a 7 win team can be a 1 seed, potentially win their sub, and take a district final spot from a team that would likely beat them by 15-20 points. I understand Falls City shouldn't be grouped with Chadron, but I think there could still be improvements in the system.

It's never going to be perfect but it's 10x better than the past. At a certain point the team that could beat the 7 win team by 15-20 points still needs to prove it on the court and didnt do enough of it throughtout the regular season.

I like how the current setup helps the great teams but not the good teams (example the Crofton subdistrict). Either Crofton or Ponca will end up losing but will get put back in. Wakefield has had a good but not great season and realistically have a very low chance of winning the sub. If Crofton or Ponca lose and get a district final but Wakefield doesn't, Im fine with it. It's never going to be mathematically perfect but what we have is pretty good with all things considered.

One caveat, four classes instead of six would provide for better accuracy in power points.

So...Wakefield goes 0-3 vs Ponca, loses to BRLD, Pender, & an 18-2 Iowa team, got it! They didn't do anything to earn a district final bid over some craptastic 7 win team...
Wait until boys subs come out & there's an 18 win team playing in a bunny bracket game in C2 & there's maybe a 7 win team going to a district final that will get a 40 pt running clock. (I haven't looked that closely at the crappy teams hosting)

Not irate, totally better than the old system! But still could use some tweaking.

Who did the beat? What was their margin of loss in those games? I'm not saying they are a bad team at all, just saying I don't feel like the system needs to be tweaked much if at all for 16-7 squads. We dont need to completely abandon geographic areas. Knock off a top team or two, or play them closer, and I'll listen more.

If your kid's team is good enough to win state, then they will get to state. I can't think of a time that we left a state champion at home. Do it in the playoffs folks.

Seems like David City chose not to host or didn’t apply to host.
It would appear that Lakeview was the only one (or highest seed) that put in an application to host. Scotus is #2 and also not hosting.

B/D is highest seed and then goes on down if they pass. C starts out with those who applied, then works through the seeds.

At least that's how I read the manual.

Actually if the #1 seed didn’t apply/said no, the NSAA picks the location. It’s not automatically given to the number 2 seed. Lakeview opened a brand new gym this fall. Scotus hosted the sub last year, they definitely would have applied to host.

IMO, it should be at Scotus because they are the two seed. But Class C schools need to vote like B and D.
