Co-ops

Any other talks of new coops or consolidations around the state that anyone else is aware of at the high school or even junior high level?

Smart move for Creighton and Plainview. Imagine if they had consolidated or co-oped during the mid 2000's. It would have been a scary sight to opposing schools.

Very interested to see how that plays out. Growing up near both of these schools I always thought B-R and Pender should have gone together.

I still think Pender and Wakefield should give it a go.

Pender and Emerson-Hubbard are doing some co-oping now. They have varsity track together and I think their junior high sports might be as well. I believe there has been talk of doing some more varsity sports with those two schools.

I knew they did that but it just seems strange they are going with E-H.

2 very prideful communities. Might be in the best interest, but most likely not gonna be approved.
Yeah Pender and B-R will probably never get together now, which is sad. They could put together some damn good teams IMO. I think of Pender didn't build their new school they probably could have gone together. But Pender wanted everything in Pender since they had the new school (which is very nice for a school that size.)

E-H & Pender (11 miles apart) makes a heck of a lot more sense then Wakefield & Pender (20 miles apart). Plus Wakefield and Pender are totally different communities...not much in common. Sounds like Pender got what they needed for a couple of years from E-H and are ready to terminate the co-op from what I've heard. Just needed E-H to get them through a couple lean years at the jr. High level.

There was a proposal recently for St. Edward to join the Boone Central/Newman Grove sports co-op, however the St. Edward school board voted 4-2 not to join in at this time, but rather to continue the existing co-op for high school wrestling and junior high football.

There was a proposal to join with Boone Central/Newman Grove for all junior high sports along with varsity wrestling, volleyball, girls basketball and boys and girls golf.

Yeah I understand Pender and EH.

I've never understood why St. Edward is staying pat on going alone. If I were an athlete I would transfer to Boone or Riverside. It's just not worth it, the Beavers can barely field teams anymore. Not fair to the kids IMO.
