I can't say for sure about Beatrice being in the O'Neill Tournament but the AD at Beatrice used to be at Valentine and Valentine and O'Neill have competed against each other for years in a variety of sports. I do know that O'Neill, like many other schools, is excited to host a holiday tournament. Like others have said, it's neat to see teams from different regions of the state and different classes match up in settings like this. Kudos to the schools, parents and teams for being willing to travel. This may not be so unique any more, but the O'Neill tourney also has a JV division on day 1. The Orangeman and Lady Orange just brought varsity teams to O'Neill. Boyd County played in the JV division along with O'Neill, St. Paul and North Central. Because of travel considerations Beatrice played the late games today and will play in the championship games tomorrow starting at 11 A.M. Another tourney that involves teams from different regions and classes is O'Neill St. Mary's playing in the GICC tourney with the Crusaders, Minden and North Platte St. Patrick's.

Wayne Holiday tourney girls final: D1 #1 Pender beats the snot out of class B top 10 SSC. Those matchups don't happen often during regular season.

This tournament also saw Pender boys take on Plattsmouth. Unique matchups for sure.

Terrific final last night between Summerland and Ainsworth. Summerland was 8-0. Ainsworth was 7-1. Ainsworth pulls it out 58-55. Reminded me of a District Final type game.
