What was the purpose of the new subdistricts format for Class C?

Seems crazy to have a subdistrict have 5 teams that had to drive 3-4 hours, played over a 3-day period.

Guessing those teams that won stayed the night, rather than driving 3-4 hours back home, only to return the next day.

Can't imagine being a fan of Arcadia/Loop City, which won on Day 1, only to win on Day 2 as well, so having to stay 3 days for subdistrict VB

The entire point was to spread out the top schools among the sub-districts outside of the westernmost part of the state.
