Couple questions that maybe someone knows. First, while looking over some scores today I saw that Omaha Christian Academy forefeited week 7 this year. I dont recall seeing anything on it, does anyone know why they forefeited? Second, Pospisil mentioned in his article the other day that 6 more schools are considering Six Man. Anyone have an ear to the ground on who they might be?

I could see these schools dropping to 6 man.

Wauneta-Palisade (they have been before.) Leyton, Winside, and Stapleton.

I still wonder if Winside has every been approached for co-oping? They have options close with Wayne and Randolph.

I would think that both Randolph and Wayne would be against adding Winside. Randolph would get bumped to 11 man again and Wayne to class B. Winside is in an odd location geographically with only one highway running through town and be sandwiched between Wayne and Norfolk. If cooped with eithere school I'm sure their participation rate would drop even lower. Randolph probably makes the most sense but my guess is going back to 11 man while adding Winside's athletes is not appealing unless they were committed to cooping for the long term. Even then it still probably isn't ideal.

Some have floated around a four class proposal which I would 100% back. One of the benefits of this along with raising the 8 man cutoff limit I believe would be that it would easier allow for coops. One of the major holdups on coops is that usually one school is in need and the other is not. For the school that is not in need, example Wayne or Randolph, to accept a school like Winside in and go up a class or even two is hard to sell. If we had a four class system it would be easier for schools to coop and for both schools to remain in the same classification or only have one of the two schools change classification. If only the smaller school changes classification as a result of the coop they were probably the one in need to begin with. The larger school would be more willing knowing they would compete in the same classification and probably add some roster depth.

I've seen Wausa this year and they were pretty thin after injuries. I've wondered if maybe they were reconsidering. I know they had discussions before the current cycle was finalized. I think the lack of schools in Northeast Nebraska playing 6 man prevents a lot of them considering.

Does anyone know how many schools forfeited at least one game this year? Always an issue the second half of the year and more so the second year of the two year cycle.

This is why.

I mean, not literally why, but surely the cause of the reason.

In fact, I heard, don't know for certain, that 2-3 schools applied to play 6 man and were refused by the other coaches. Perhaps they are part of the 6?
