Looking through some "state leaders" for this track season and (Freshman) Carter Nelson of Ainsworth stands out. 13 ft pole vaulter, high jumps 6'8", threw the discus 155... and runs 12 flat in the 100 and 24.5 in the 200. Pretty impressive numbers for a Freshman, let alone how different the events are. Any other boys/girls putting up noteworthy performances?

Several distance runners around the state......from the smaller classes specifically Carson Noecker at Hartington Cedar Catholic and Payton Davis at David CIty Aquinas.

Noecker has clocked a 9:29 3200 and a 4:24 1600

Davis has clocked a 4:24 mile and a 9:36 two-mile

Noecker has great genes going...mixed with hard work = champion.

Not sure if this just meant to be a high school post, but there is a middle school 8th grade girl from Sutherland who has posted a 58.37 in the 400 and 2:24 in the 800. Pretty phenomenal.
Hope to see her at the JH state meet held in Gothenburg. Those are phenomenal times! Couple fast 7th graders out there too looking at the top rankings on athletic.net. FYI athletic.net is a dumb site as the meet host must make results official, which is why her 800 time doesn't show up as the fastest time, but I know that's what the Gothenburg meet uses for inviting kids to participate, and it gives a good look at track results.

Agreed about the sentiment about athletic.net... wish ALL meets were posted on there too. This isn't like other sports where you worry about scouting. No need to hide results/stats. Celebrate the kids!

Saw Davis this weekend in Columbus. He’s so smooth.

Her genes are REALLY good! Both parents were DI athletes at Wyoming and I think her mother had an opportunity to make the US Olympic team at one point. They've had their kids on the track since day 1. Good genes and good people, easy to cheer for.

Thought maybe I'd bump this thread for this season and toot my horn a little bit with the early praise for Nelson. Cool to read the other posts as well and see how those athletes developed and won a lot of medals in their careers.

Obviously some records have been broken this season, but any other track results/athletes jump off the screen/paper worth noting as we head into primetime track season?

I'm keeping my eye on a freshmen thrower at Ravenna. Mannox Martin throwing 57 feet in the shot put (consistently over 55 it seems) as a Freshman is insane!!!

Future alert. Another Arens girl from Crofton will enter the cross country and track scene next year in Class C. As an 8th grader she is already sub 5:20 in the 1600.

Dreyson Puppe from LCC, 110 hurdler. Was legit last year as 8th grade and looks like he is continuing that as a freshman.

Perkins County has some absolute studs in the distance races, and insane depth to go along with it. 4x8, 800, 1600, 3200 races you are going to see some high finishes at the state meet from the Plainsmen.
