The first-ever girls district wrestling tournaments take place today and tomorrow. There are four districts and just one class. The assignments:

Wow some interesting decisions were made here. Sending Chadron, Chase County, and Valentine to Nebraska City but then sending Platteview, Palmyra, and SSC to Gothenburg. That’s a head scratcher

From the NSAA manual:

Teams will be assigned to districts based on a serpentine method with returning state points as the main factor in assignments. If teams have no returning state points, a draw will be used to place teams. The school with the most returning state points is placed into District 1, the next-most into District 2, and so on until all schools are assigned. (1-2-3-4-4-3-2-1.....etc.)
 
Kinda crazy to see schools like Omaha Skutt and Omaha Westside competing at Amherst
