Disappointed in BOB! Hate to say it but I wonder if any media outlet actually does the research into small towns and the ball that is being played there. The two best holiday tournaments in my opinion are in Battle Creek and Malcolm

The north bend tournament Might have been a good one but it looks like Bob hasn’t done his home work. He has GACC at 3-2 with a loss to Columbus scotus?? They haven’t even played! More interesting is it would have been a great game between Thayer Central and GACC but GACC top player, one of the top 3 players in the state all class is out due to an injury. I wish the media would do there homework before they just post stuff.
For example.. the Battle Creek tournament has multiple college athletes competing but no pub

Feel free to start your own media company and provide the coverage you feel is lacking…. There are few, if any, who have provided better coverage of Nebraska high school athletes than Huskerland Bob.

Oh and you might want to do your homework because the GACC GIRLS are 3-2 with a loss to Scotus.

Top 3 player on the state all class!

Same 2 haters as last year
I'm not a hater. He's a very good player, but top 3 all class? Come on man... I don't watch any A/B ball, but the best C/D players I've seen over the last 10-15 years would be Daum, Glock, Jacobsen, Schutte, Binder, Wingett, Vogt, Kingsbury & the like. (Sure I'm missing some) IMO he's not in that group. Maybe/hopefully he'll get there, I wish the kid nothing but the best. Nothing would make me happier than a NE Nebraska kid from a D1/C2 school making it big.

You’ve obviously not watched him then. Closest one in your list to how he plays is wingett. Very similar players both 6’7 have elite handles and scoring ability from all 3 levels. I never watched daum play in high school but have reffed all the other ones you mentioned and it not even close.

Have you seen him play? Know what AAU program he played on? Who’s the top ten in the state? I would like to hear peoples opinion.

It’s interesting that you don’t watch class a or b ball but can say he’s not a top 3 player in the state. There are a handful of kinds in the lower classes that get over looked every year Blows my mind a kid can drop 20 6 and 6 every night while facing a double or triple team because they are the teams only option. How would they do if they were on a team with class a talent??

Fair question. I have seen him play, and I see a ton of basketball games every year. I wouldn’t have an opinion on this if I didn’t see so many games.

Top 5 players in the state in my opinion:

1. Bryson Bahl - Papio South
2. Jacob Webber - Kearney
3. Derek Rollins - Millard North
4. Tayvin Zephier-Murphy - Omaha Westview
5. Robby Garcia - Bellevue West

Would add Barrett Boesiger of Norris to a top 10 list.

Solid top 5.
Mine would be
1. Jacob Weber
2. Bryson Bahl
3. Konnor Kralik
4. Derek Rollins
5. Zerek Houston

I don't live in an area to watch A/B. Facing double & triple teams every night happens often for the best players on most every C/D team. Even if they're not one of the 3 best players in the state.

Saw Kralik play multiple times last year, he was a good player, but he’s not a can’t miss prospect. Kids in Class C and D who are that good get double and triple teamed all the time. Go back and watch Brecken Erickson from NPSP for a few years ago.

Not taking anything away from the kid, but I have watched a lot of WPCC hoops for many years, he’s not the best Bluejay to trot out on the basketball court in their school’s history.

Just want to make sure I understand you - you're saying the other guys on that list besides Wingett and Daum.... are not even close to being as good as this GACC kid? And you've seen those other guys play? Again... not even close?

I have not watched the GACC player so this is a general statement.

It is so hard for the Class C and D players to get into that top 5, even in a state as sparsely populated as Nebraska. The reason for this is that Omaha is a hot bed for Division 1 talent. It is not personal, my own kids played Class C sports.

Most people can't comprehend the difference between Class A and Class C boys basketball. The game is SO much faster. Just getting a shot off is challenging. Something else that most can't comprehend is the talent level of players at schools like UNK, Wayne State, etc. It is an assumption that the only really good players in Nebraska are in Lincoln. Not true. Those other schools have extremely talented rosters. Now look at the difference between UNK/Wayne and UNL. Day and night.

So, I have no issue with people making claims about a Class C/D player being D1 material. Maybe they are. Likely they are not but that doesn't mean they aren't really good players. However, Omaha is loaded up with D1 players and that is a fact.

This. Kids like Wes Eikmeier and Jesse Carr are few and far between. The game is alot faster.

I purposely did not mention those two guys because I was curious how long this thread would go before anyone mentioned the two that I consider to be the most obvious players to come through in the last 15 years. I KNOW how good those two were because I watched them play in the same organization that my own son played in.

Yes, they are so rare.

Agreed! But those 2 guys played HS when most of the kids playing now weren't even born! 🤣 Darn, time slips by.

I agree with all of what you said. That’s why it’s cool to see the small town kids make the top AAU programs in the area. Bison use to be fun to watch because they would take a small town kid now and then. Most of the kids that have been mentioned played on ETG or Lincoln Supreme
