Millard South (3-6, 36.67)
Lincoln Southwest (3-6, 36.33)

What happens to your scenario if Kearney beats Norfolk, who lost their qb on Friday night?

What tie breaker does Norfolk have over GI? They had the same number of points.

I would love to see a Millard North/ Omaha North match up in the finals. The only hurdle preventing that is a pesky Creighton Prep team who has certainly exceeded expectations this year.

Norfolk will have beaten three Division 1&2 opponents (Columbus, Millard West & Kearney) than GI (Kearney & Columbus). Columbus is assuming they beat Millard South but it's the same for both so it doesn't matter in this case.

I think if Kearney wins . It gives North a tougher matchup against Kearney or Norfolk in round two. Millard West and PLV South to me do not match up with North. Kearney owes North one from a pretty good beating a couple years ago. Norfolk losing Gunnar before playoffs is just a tough deal for the Panthers.

Only 6 teams really in the mix. MNorth, Prep, Grand Island, Central, Norfolk, and North.

If North and GI escape each other in the brackets , there is your State Championsip Game.

I usually get questions about why I picked one team over another. My formula is "team with the better record wins" with tie-breakers involving opponents' records and points scored if needed. Many usually point to CalPreps.com for predictions. The have the following "upsets" for this week. I've updated my predictions with those changes.

Lincoln Southwest over Lincoln North Star
Kearney over Norfolk
Bellevue West over Omaha Central
Millard South over Columbus

# 1 - Omaha North (9-0, 45.33)
#16 - Lincoln Southwest (4-5, 37.56)

# 8 - Kearney (6-3, 41.33)
