Gretna East's 40-1 victory over Omaha Buena Vista set a single-game state record for runs scored. The previous record was 35, set by Papillion-LaVista in 2018 in a game against Omaha Benson.

The Griffins scored 17 runs in the first inning, none in the second, one in the third and 11 in both the fourth and fifth innings before the mercy rule kicked in. Gretna East recorded 23 hits in the contest and also took advantage of nine Buena Vista errors.
