What's the proposal?Does this have a chance to pass, and if so how if any will affect conferences, is OPS behind this.
I don't hate this ideaAll I know is when it comes to football, Class A needs to shrink to 24 teams.
The only schools outside of the Omaha/LNK area that should be Class A are GISH and Kearney.
Send Fremont, Norfolk, Columbus, NP and South Sioux to Class B.
Well they beat ScoBlo this year who made the semis. I don’t think they would have won it, but would been a 8-9 win team.Honestly, how would have NP done the past two years in B?
They beat Westside this year. They would be a good B team. They’ve had a couple good players the last few years. One kid went to Montana, another headed up to South Dakota.Honestly, how would have NP done the past two years in B?
Basketball…nah. I watched em worked over by C-1 Kearney Catholic the last couple years.Would be legit title contenders the last two years in both football and basketball in B.
NP beat Scottsbluff last year and lost by 3 to Beatrice. That same KC you’re speaking of almost beat Skutt last year as well. This year NP was tied with #1 Skutt in the 4th quarter.Basketball…nah. I watched em worked over by C-1 Kearney Catholic the last couple years.
Well playedThis is easy. Just Co-op NP High and St Pats and they can stay in A. Then everyone is happy.
ZERO chance in BB. ZERO. Certainly Top 10 in football. BB wouldn't have been "legit" in Class C and maybe not even dominant in D1.Would be legit title contenders the last two years in both football and basketball in B.
The last 3 years NP's record against non-Class A's has been 28-22. A number of those games were against C1's and C2's. In fact as I looked, they and St Pats (3rd/4th in D1 I think) had two commons in 2020 and It wasn't close. St Pats beat Cozad by 30 some and NP did in overtime for one example. Then, consider that their are only so many McCooks, Sidney's, Lex's, Alliances, Gerings in Class B, which is the bulk of the NP's non A schedule...zero chance they would have been a "legit" contender. They were Class B in 2019...4 wins. Football yes. BB no. They've been seriously outclassed by Ogallala the last 5-6 years and THEY haven't won C1... Not trying to start a peeing match, but wishful thinking and imagining aren't fact.NP beat Scottsbluff last year and lost by 3 to Beatrice. Said the last two years. Not sure where the 2020 history lesson is coming from? This season and last season North Platte is right there with the best 3-6 teams in class B. Definitely not saying they’d win state, but they have been good enough to make a semi final in class B the last two years and if you’re a semi final team that makes you a legit title contender. I dont agree with their proposal To me it seems as if they are saying we can not compete in our class so let us go down a class and be eligible I dont like the standard of lowering the bar so their school can see more success at the cost of other schools half their sizeThe last 3 years NP's record against non-Class A's has been 28-22. Mostly I picked 3 because I'm lazy. I was going to be more fair and look at last 6 years, but fine. Counting the last two years and the two games (0-2) this year, North Platte is 6-14 against B, C1, AND C2 teams that ended the regular season with winning records. Take out the Yorks, McCooks, and Sidney's, along with GI Northwest, that number gets way worse. Yes, you beat Scottsbluff at home in OT. You also lost to the runner up by 20-some, 17 at home to Platteview. Those aren't the numbers of a "legit" contender. Even going 14-6 might give you some ammo. 6-14 doesn't. As it stands your claim is based on an OT win against a first round loser. The game you are hanging your hat on, the win, at home, in overtime, against a team that wasn't even a semifinal team, doesn't make North Platte a back-to-back semifinal team except to a worked up parent. In Football they could have been a semi-finalist, maybe finalist, but not hoops. On the bright side, at least you'll beat Kearney Catholic by 20 or so this year!Said the last two years. Pretty hard to argue with this Coach. Good post with good supporting evidence. ThanksMostly I picked 3 because I'm lazy. I was going to be more fair and look at last 6 years, but fine.
