Voters Reject Oakland-Craig/Tekamah-Herman merger

Voters rejected a $38.5 million bond issue that would have merged the Oakland-Craig and Tekamah-Herman school districts. The bond failed 1,814 to 1,069.

Too bad. I would have liked to see this happen. I know many in Oakland did not want this to go through. At least the schools are functioning and have good enrollments.

It'll be interesting to see what T-H does from a school standpoint as they could use upgrades.

vote against the bond in both districts was about 65%. it wasn't just OC that was against it.

This is really too bad. Both high school buildings are under par for these kids to attend. I hope the people who voted "no" aren't the same ones who complain when families are moving out of these districts due to poor facilities. I'm sure the "no" voters will enjoy their weekly trip to Omaha to spend money instead of investing in their kids education though.
