Other Sports Comprehensive List of State Track & Field Records Set in 2024

What a season it was in track and field this year. I have started a new thread to list comprehensively, the state track and field records set in 2024

BOYS

100 meters

B:
Ethan Baessler of Blair sets a new Class B record of 10.50, breaking the old record of 10.53 he set in 2023

D: William Kulhanek of Overton sets a new Class D state record of 10.57, breaking the old record of 10.85 set by Nate Probasco of Scribner-Snyder in 2001

---------------------------------------------------

400 meters

D:
William Kulhanek of Overton broke the Class D state record three times this season. He originally ran a 48.54 to break the old record of 48.89 set by Parker Anderson of Cross County in 2013. Following that, he lowered his own record two more times to 48.11 and then finally at 48.09 to establish the new record.

---------------------------------------------------

1,600 meters

All-Class / A:
Juan Gonzalez of Fremont set a new Class A and All-Class state record twice this season. He ran a 4:08.99 to break the old A and All-Class record of 4:09.84 set by Milo Greder of Omaha Westside in 2017. Since then, he lowered the record to 4:08.61 to establish the current mark.

B: The Class B state record was broke three times this season. To begin, Braden Lofquest of Gretna East clocked a 4:15.16 to break the old mark of 4:16.62 held by Steve Doran of Grand Island Central Catholic, which was set way back in 1981. Then Tommy Rice of Omaha Skutt broke Lofquest's record when he ran a 4:15.06. Finally, Lofquest took the record back, clocking a 4:12.11 to establish the current record.

---------------------------------------------------

3,200 meters

B: Riley Boonstra of Norris established a new Class B state record with a time of 9:02.25, breaking the old mark of 9:12.9 set by Bryan Clark of Auburn in 1983.

---------------------------------------------------

C:
Jaxon Knisley of North Platte St. Patrick's broke his own state record twice this season. He first ran a 14.16 to break the old record of 14.18 he set in 2023. He followed that up with a time of 14.01 at the state meet to break the record a second time and establish the current mark.

---------------------------------------------------

The final boys state record set in 2024 was in the Class A boys triple jump. Reece Grosserode of Lincoln Pius X broke his own state record in the event of 49' 0.5" when he went 49' 8" in the first meet of the season. At the end of the year, Grosserode increased that record by one inch to 49' 9" to establish the current mark.

Other Sports Track & Field State Records (Updated 5/18)

Any theories on why so many records were broken this year? The only thing I can think of is that I think a lot of schools are changing their sprint training and following the “Feed the Cats” training program.
It was a crazy, unprecedented year for broken records. I've been following the sport for almost 30 years, it's by far the most I've ever seen broken.
