Other Sports State Track & Field Meet Schedule

A note........new this year, there will now no loner be prelims in the 400 meters and 300 meter hurdles at the state meet. Both events will now be run as "Finals Only" with all athletes in each heat running against the clock.
I can't decide if I hate this because I am getting old and don't like change or if its just because it's stupid? We add all these Wildcards and State wide seeding so we get the best of the best playing against each other at State competitions. This flies in the face of that. I want to see the kids who earn their way to the finals going against the best in the state in their event. I suppose some might argue with me but running a 300 hurdle or 400 on back to back days isn't a big deal. Is it because some kids may have to run the 4x400 later?

Baseball ****STATE TOURNAMENT BRACKETS (Updated 5/15)****

Haymarket Park in Lincoln is no longer in the rotation of state facilities?
It's not. 2021 was the last year that Class A and Class B rotated between playing at Haymarket and Werner. Subsequently, Lincoln didn't bid to host the tourney at all, so Omaha got the whole shebang. Plus they added Class C. So now you get state tourney games at dumps (sorry, it is) like Fricke Field. Hastings should bid to host one class, at least Duncan Field is kinda cool.

Baseball ****STATE TOURNAMENT BRACKETS (Updated 5/15)****

I assume because of the full turf playing surface and the weather conditions yesterday. Those games were originally supposed to be at Fricke Field, which IMHO is way worse all around than Papio South. Honestly, the NSAA should be ashamed that these kids are playing state tourney games at these crappy venues. It's lame and has definitely killed some of the experience of making state.

Why would Papio South even be a consideration for playing a state baseball game? Trashy venue.

Other Sports Class C District Track Results (5/9)

It appears that Carter Nelson only competed in two events. Is there a reason for that? He is talented enough he could have qualified in at least 3 other events.
I noticed that as well, but after looking closer, he no-heighted in the pole vault (along with Norfolk Catholic’s best vaulter) and only threw 122 in the discus—65 feet off his best.
