Future co-ops/consolidations

I have heard that they've gained some Hartington kids. Might be unlikely that those families up and moved there though since the two towns are only 15 minutes apart, but I guess anything is possible.

That could be a powerhouse if Wynot and Hartington-Newcastle ever consolidated. Cedar County High!

According to the winter classifications for girl's basketball, Hartington-Newcastle has a girl enrollment of 37, in which 9 of those girls are out for basketball. Wynot has a girl enrollment of 23, and if the roster I've seen is correct, 20 of those 23 girls are out for basketball. Wynot plays 10 players and there's very little drop off when subbing those 5 players in off the bench. It's amazing that they can get almost every girl out for basketball.

Easier to go out with a winning mentality. What Wynot has done for the last decade is awesome. Only missing state once since 2010 (2018). They have made it to the finals every year as well.

Wynot is not gaining Hartington kids. In the last five years, there has been some movement from both schools to the other. Overall, it’s been a wash.

It is currently in the works to co-op Sioux County and Crawford....the two AD's have been working together for probably the past year on how to present this to each respective school board and relay the logistics of making it work with as little resistance as possible. They are 30 miles apart but are really out of options. Even if Crawford ever headed towards Chadron, it's still 25 miles, but Sioux County would be left by itself. The rumor...RUMOR... has floated out there as well that Sioux County has even considered Lusk, WY which is 30 miles to the West. The biggest hold up if there were to be any, would be the parents/school boards. The students already attend each others homecomings/proms and the like. Will be interesting to see if the AD's can pull it out.

Would be very interesting to see how long that would work. It seems more logistical than Banner County and Leyton co-oping. I hope everyone involved looks 5-10 years down the road and not “right now.”
