As of today, the 2018 season is officially under way. best time of the year! still way to early, but who are some early favorites? To me, only 2 classes are givens (B=York, C2=Norfolk Cath.) w/ the rest of the classes wide open. I predict:

A=Omaha Burke
B=York
C1= Aurora
C2=Norfolk Catholic
8-man 1= Creighton
8-man 2= Johnson-Brock

I like these picks, although it's weird seeing Aurora in C-1! So you think this is the year Creighton gets it done, huh? They've been very good for a while now, but never has seemed like they could get over the hump.

A - Omaha Burke
B - McCook/ Omaha Skutt
C-1 - Wahoo/Pierce/Bishop Neumann
C-2 - Norfolk Catholic
D-1 - Creighton/Howells-Dodge
D-2 - Johnson-Brock/FCSH

I agree, many potential winners in multiple classes. Can't wait for kickoff in two weeks

A- Burke
B- York
C-1- Pierce
C-2- Norfolk Catholic
D-1- Hemingford
D-2- Clearwater-Orchard

I'm more familiar with the lower classes. I love what Pierce does year in and year out.

I wouldn't be surprised to see an Aquinas win or Battle Creek finally break through in C-2 with everyone (including myself) thinking it's a foregone conclusion to give the title to Norfolk Catholic.

Hemingford is the best kept secret in the west. Great size on their line, probably the best running back in the class in the Davis kid, and a coach that knows what he is doing when it comes to winning big games.

Clearwater-Orchard had a really good team last year in D-1 and brings back almost everyone. To me, there's no one more loaded in D-2.

Has there been another program the last 20 years that has been so good and maintained success but not win a championship like Creighton? It’s crazy to me they have never won a title. Also it’s crazy they were C1 in 2004-2005. What do you think @Alum-Ni ?

Creighton has consistently been a top 5 team in D1 over the years. If injuries didn't hold them back last year, they would have been state champs by 30 points every game, imo. They had a phenomenal team as well in 2016 but just couldn't get the job done vs. WPGACC. If Creighton stays fairly injury free this season they should be state champs.

That recent champion Hemingford team was one of the best 8 man teams I've ever seen. Recently they've had a good record, but haven't produced in the playoffs. Maybe they'll change that around this year. Clearwater-Orchard is an interesting pick! I've only seen them play once a couple years ago when they weren't very competitive, I'll have to keep an eye on them this season

Clearwater-Orchard is a top 5 team for sure. They’ve got a good combination of experience, athletic kids, size, and an experienced coach that just a few years ago took a struggling team to the state semis if I remember right. If they stay healthy and the cards are dealt out just right they might end up being the best team in D2.

Wow! What would of been the odds before the season that you would get 4 out of 6 right and the only 2 you would miss is the 2 you were most confident.
