D-2 Predictions

After looking over that bracket it looks like Arcadia/loup city trekked to Hayes Center 3 nights in a row?! Yikes, gotta be around 3hours one way.
The new format gets the best 8 to state. People are making way too big of a deal that Sutton had to go to MayHay and Maxwell had to go Hebron.
I agree is not that much of a problem. The problem was just that Sandy Creek ad Sutton are 14 miles apart and could have played that first round at Sandy creek or Sutton BUT in the end who cares I like the system

It's one thing for the team to have to do it, but what about the fans?

How do you suppose the parents felt about that?

Having to travel 6 hours a day, for 3 days in a row, during the work week?

Pretty damn stupid to even have to consider doing that in order to watch one of your children play, especially if your child is a senior and each game could be their last.

"Just stay the night"... Well, look at the cost of fuel and cost of hotel and loss of 3 days of work. No matter which option you choose, you had better have money saved up and not be poor.

Why is it so important to get the 8 best teams to state (instead of the best 6 or 7 + 1 or 2 others) when it comes at a cost to the school, fans, and parents like this?

We are not a small state. This isn't just Omaha or Lincoln. Can't win your subdistrict due to stiff competition? Win at district finals.

Can't win district finals? Sorry. 12 subdistricts and the remaining top-4 in points go to district finals, right? How does changing the subdistrict to this new system change that?

In the old system, couldn't the 3rd or 4th place team (in a subdistrict with all great teams), still make district finals and have a chance to go to state?

I think it's fair to say that the format will stay going forward. I think the only true discussion is how long until class D follows suit.
That would be a mistake.

Correct me if I am wrong. Isn't the state tournament a 3-4 day event? So families will have to "Just stay the night" or drive back home potentially 3-4 days for the state tournament? I have never heard of that being a problem. Growing up in a school district in Western Nebraska it was a given that come district time you were going to do some serious traveling. However this was never an issue because we were in a conference that you regularly had 3+ hour road trips. Now since then working in the SE and NE part of the state, it is amazing how much of a big deal people make about traveling.
If you take a quick look at the C2-9 Sub and the travel that was done throughout the year excluding Sub districts here are the furthest trips that were made.
ALC @ Doniphan: 1 hr 5 min
Cross County @ Central Valley 1 hr 17 min
Sutton @ David City 1 hr 24 min
Sandy Creek @ Milford 1 hr. 16 min
MHC @ Mullen 2 hr 16 min.

If what is said above previously in this thread about MHC holding the other schools to their vote in favor of the new format, then I am sure they saw the potential travel of the other teams as a huge advantage. I am sure it is also hard for MHC to listen to anyone about travel when they deal with a 40 minute drive one way for practices every day. However, I will say it is interesting, and it is probably some set agreement within the cooperative, but the game could have easily been in Maywood instead of Hayes Center. That would have shortened the trip about 40 minutes.

Also, if I can remember back to last year, I am pretty sure this initial proposal for this system was put in by Centennial, Malcolm, and DC West....all Eastern Schools.
