Has anyone heard if D1 and D2 will move the region format like C1 and C2 next year/moving forward?
I didn't see a proposal either for it yet. I hope it comes down to D1 and D2, it really makes the regular season more fun to follow as team move around and you can see potential matchups.I could see it trickling down, but not sure if there was a proposal to push it through for next year
It needs to happen. 1-20 Hastings St. Cecilia is going to end up hosting a sub this year.I didn't see a proposal either for it yet. I hope it comes down to D1 and D2, it really makes the regular season more fun to follow as team move around and you can see potential matchups.
Almost a 0% change class D schools go to that format. Just from the people I talk to...they are stuck in old times. Their best move may be simply going to 10 districts instead of 12. That they could all live with over time I believe. It needs to happen. 1-20 Hastings St. Cecilia is going to end up hosting a sub this year.
agree D1 and D2 are just very slow to changeAlmost a 0% change class D schools go to that format. Just from the people I talk to...they are stuck in old times. Their best move may be simply going to 10 districts instead of 12. That they could all live with over time I believe.
Like others, I love the way Class C works now. Makes things meaningful all season long.
Smaller schools working with smaller budgets. Change can be hard when you don't know for certain how it might affect finances.agree D1 and D2 are just very slow to change
Hate to say it, but adapt or die. The new format makes me follow C1 and C2 a lot closer than D1 and D2. The regular season means more with this new format, I can't understand why Class D coaches and AD's wouldn't be for it? Because change is hard?Almost a 0% change class D schools go to that format. The regional is way better for sureHate to say it, but adapt or die. The new format makes me follow C1 and C2 a lot closer than D1 and D2. The regular season means more with this new format, I can't understand why Class D coaches and AD's wouldn't be for it? Because change is hard?
10 districts would help in Class D, but why not just do what C2 and C1 are doing?
The season is still meaninful, but tracking points and where teams land is a lot more fun and engaging in C1 and C2 vs D1 and D2.All season is still meaningful isn't it... Even if there is a poor subdistrict, those winners would be matched up against the best in the state for the district final. I think with the current system in place (which is not perfect, and no system will ever be perfect) we end up with pretty close to the BEST 8 teams in Lincoln.
great example of an absolutely horrible systemYa, the fact that 1-20 Hastings STC will be hosting is a flawed system. One of the following schools will be in a sub-state game:
STC (1-20)
Nebraska Christian (5-15)
Blue Hill (9-12)
Palmer (4-13)
Would it help to have 8 divisions?I agree that a 10 subdistrict setup would be better than the current 12 subdistrict system. Less subdistricts helps spread the teams out, and gets us more deserving wildcards.
BUT................I also think 7-13 Hartington-Newcastle would beat 15-5 Twin Loup.
Twin Loup loses by 28 to Stuart..................who loses by 24 to Summerland............
Twin Loup loses by 28 to Stuart..................who loses by 17 to West Holt..................
Twin Loup loses by 28 to Stuart..................who beats Bloomfield by 14....................
H-N loses to Summerland by 29 (+23 in comparative theory to Twin Loup)
H-N loses to West Holt by 11 (+34 in comparative theory to Twin Loup)
H-N beats Bloomfield by 26 (+40 in comparative theory to Twin Loup)
This is all part of a point system that is flawed.........................it's not terrible, but not all teams who end up in a division are not created equally. In areas with bad basketball, teams end up with a Division 2 record because they beat bad basketball teams. It doesn't make them superior to a team in another part of the state who is a Division 3 and plays good basketball teams.
I don't have a solution, but I would argue in this scenario, we're giving the team with the better record too much benefit.
Thats not really it. All those teams are bad, just STC plays a way better schedule, Give STC the same schedule they win 5 games alsoGetting rid of bonus points would help in my opinion. St. Cecilia is going to host because of all the bonus points that they've received.
Could you put a cap on bonus points?Getting rid of bonus points would help in my opinion. St. Cecilia is going to host because of all the bonus points that they've received.
Why....why punish someone who is willing to play a bigger school? How many teams in class D are jumping at the opportunity to play HSC in girls and boys? Also hard to control with conferences and when schools are borderline on each class.Could you put a cap on bonus points?
If anyone is getting "punished" it's every other team traveling to STC's sub including Blue Hill who beat them in a head-to-head. STC has over 40 bonus points. I'm not saying get rid of bonus points, but there has got to be an X number of points where you cap it and level the playing field. Or just adopt the regional format that would fix this problem.Why....why punish someone who is willing to play a bigger school? You want to take a fun dive into some things. The NSAA schedule page for each school lists the winning percentage of a teams schedule. It's a bit fascinating how much data we have available. I was going through some girls C1 schedules and here's just a few:
Bridgeport (21-1) - Opponent Win %: 42.08% - 0 Division 1 team played and 4 Division 4 teams played
Clarkson/Leigh (12-11) - Opponent Win %: 55.99% - 4 Division 1 opponents and 1 Division 4 opponent played (1 more on the schedule)
Central City (21-2) - Opponent Win %: 42.20% - 3 Division 1 opponents and 6 Division 4 opponents
Fort Calhoun (15-7) - Opponent Win %: 53.83% - 6 Division 1 opponents and 3 Division 4 opponents
Lincoln Christian (22-0) - Opponent Win %: 58.49% - 6 Division 1 opponents and 3 total Division 4 opponents. Absolute domination!
Malcolm (13-10) - Opponent Win %: 55.74% - with two games against 0-20 Ralston, and 4 total Division 4 opponents. 7 Division 1 opponents - Not bad for a team with the best player out for the season.
Milford (19-1) - Opponent Win %: 52.50% - 5 Division 1 opponents and 4 Division 4 opponents
Minden (21-2) - Opponent Win %: 56.56% - 8 Division 1 opponents and 5 Division 4 opponents
North Bend (17-7) - Opponent Win %: 64.60% - 9 Division 1 opponents and 2 Division 4 Opponents
Scotus (18-4) - Opponent Win %: 57.94% - 3 Division 1 opponents and 0 Division 4 opponents
I like the adopt a regional format and fix the entire problem like every other classIf anyone is getting "punished" it's every other team traveling to STC's sub including Blue Hill who beat them in a head-to-head.
