The NSAA approved the numbers at their December meeting, why don't they post them on their website, doesn't make sense.
That is for 24-25, they approved the 25-26 numbers in December, so was wondering why they haven't put those up yet, unless they are waiting on something🤷♂️
Are you suggesting more consolidations or just saying we need more kids in our small towns? It’s unreal to me there are 100 schools with under 32 boys 9-11. Too many small schools.
Just spitballing here, because I have no clue, but perhaps for funding-related issues not related to NSAA activities. (i.e. state aid, free and reduced lunch, etc.)Does anyone know why the enrollments need to be turned in so early for the next year?
I believe this is correct. Not certain on the timeline, but there is a time period where schools can correct the numbers reported. There is a certain time period for schools to confirm or challenge the numbers. Can't remember if the December point is the beginning or the end of the period.
We aren’t getting more kids and families in small towns. So we need more consolidations especially east of North Platte. Are you suggesting more consolidations or just saying we need more kids in our small towns?
This is what needs to happen. It’s been successful and fine in Iowa.Unless Nebraska does like Iowa did several years ago and steps in and provide extra funding for schools to consolidate. This should happen because we have too many school buildings operating for the amount of kids in them.
I still have a hard time understanding why we would want the state to dictate this instead of local control. If the taxpayers want to consolidate they have the option of electing like minded individuals to their boards. When push comes to shove, most people in these communities want the schools to stay. This is what needs to happen. It’s been successful and fine in Iowa.
You have a large number of people in this world( and the above guy is one of them) who want the government to dictate all and take away local control. They want this to happen in the areas and ideas they like, but they lack they understanding of now that you have lost local control that the government will soon dictate and area of life you do not agree with and that goes against you and since you gave that control away to get something you wanted, you are now screwed and the government dictates what is right and what is wrong This population lacks foresight to say the leastI still have a hard time understanding why we would want the state to dictate this instead of local control. If the taxpayers want to consolidate they have the option of electing like minded individuals to their boards. When push comes to shove, most people in these communities want the schools to stay.
I for one do not want the state to come in and take away local control. Allow the communities to make the decision if they should or shouldn't consolidate. This is what needs to happen. It’s been successful and fine in Iowa.
I agree. Not to single anyone out because this is not personal BUT many time consolidation only makes sense from an Activities (Athletics) perspective. Yes there would be less football teams and filling rosters would be easier. But that is the most inconsequential part of giving up local control.I still have a hard time understanding why we would want the state to dictate this instead of local control. If the taxpayers want to consolidate they have the option of electing like minded individuals to their boards. When push comes to shove, most people in these communities want the schools to stay.
