The NSAA approved the numbers at their December meeting, why don't they post them on their website, doesn't make sense.

There is a certain time period for schools to confirm or challenge the numbers. Can't remember if the December point is the beginning or the end of the period.

The enrollment numbers from 2024-2025 are used for 2025-2026 activities/athletics.

They use the 9-11 numbers from 24-25 for 25-26. Those numbers are posted.

I retract my last statement. I opened the 24-25 numbers, and they are actually from the year prior.

I stand corrected.

Does anyone know why the enrollments need to be turned in so early for the next year?
Just spitballing here, because I have no clue, but perhaps for funding-related issues not related to NSAA activities. (i.e. state aid, free and reduced lunch, etc.)

I believe this is correct. Not certain on the timeline, but there is a time period where schools can correct the numbers reported.

It will be awhile before schools coop/consolidate. Small schools are funded by the farmers & land tax. If farmers want their school and are willing to pay.... Unless Nebraska does like Iowa did several years ago and steps in and provide extra funding for schools to consolidate. This should happen because we have too many school buildings operating for the amount of kids in them.

This is what needs to happen. It’s been successful and fine in Iowa.
I still have a hard time understanding why we would want the state to dictate this instead of local control. If the taxpayers want to consolidate they have the option of electing like minded individuals to their boards. When push comes to shove, most people in these communities want the schools to stay.

You have a large number of people in this world( and the above guy is one of them) who want the government to dictate all and take away local control. They want this to happen in the areas and ideas they like, but they lack they understanding of now that you have lost local control that the government will soon dictate and area of life you do not agree with and that goes against you and since you gave that control away to get something you wanted, you are now screwed and the government dictates what is right and what is wrong This population lacks foresight to say the least

I agree. Not to single anyone out because this is not personal BUT many time consolidation only makes sense from an Activities (Athletics) perspective. Yes there would be less football teams and filling rosters would be easier. But that is the most inconsequential part of giving up local control.

The amount of school money that comes from the State level is so small, and consolidations will not change that number. Bottom line is that the local tax payers are funding the educational system and should have control of it. There are intricacies within each school district that simply can't be understood by someone sitting in a Legislative Session in Lincoln. Let the people that understand those things manage them.
