This move is to help us in the media. We can cover your kids better if we go into a game knowing more about them.

I don't always have time before a game to go look up film on a team I'm going to see once all season to try to figure out who their best players are, but with the stats I can figure it out pretty quickly. Conversely, if someone who normally averages, for example, 4 points per game gets hot and scores 20 I'm aware that it's unusual and can highlight the fact that kid had a notably great night.

There's also little or no downside to it.
