Other Sports District Track Assignments & Qualifying Rules

CLASS D

Class D has five districts of 12 schools each and four districts of 11 schools each, for a total of 104 schools. Class D district meets will take place on Wednesday, May 14.

Individual Running Events
The top two finishers in each event will qualify for the state meet, plus the next SIX (6) fastest times of the non-qualifiers, regardless of place in a finals event for a maximum of 24 qualifiers. If there is a tie for the final qualifying spot of the non-qualifiers, the tie will be broken by comparing the times to the thousandths.

Relays
The winner in the relay races will qualify for the state meet, plus the next SEVEN (7) fastest times of the non-qualifiers, regardless of place in a finals event, for a maximum of 16 qualifiers. If there is a tie for the final qualifying spot of the non-qualifiers, the tie will be broken by comparing the times to the thousandths.

Field Events (Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put, Discus)
The top two finishers in the long jump, triple jump, shot put and discus will qualify for the state meet, plus the next SIX (6) best performances of the non-qualifiers across all districts. If the case of a tie for the last qualifying spot, all of those tied shall qualify.

Field Events (Pole Vault, High Jump)
The top two finishers in the pole vault and high jump will qualify for the state meet, plus all who equal or exceed the automatic qualifying mark at the 2025 NSAA Class D District Meet. The automatic qualifying mark is determined by using the average height of 8th place at the State Meet for the past three years. In the pole vault, athletes must clear 9' 6" (boys) and 6' 6" (girls) in order to qualify for the state meet.

- Regardless of place would mean that in RELAY events at district meets, any relay team who finished 2nd-8th place in their district meet could qualify for the state meet if their time was one of the seven fastest times of non-qualifiers from all districts submitted. It would not matter what place in their respective district they finished, but that the time was one of the seven fastest of the non-qualifiers

- Regardless of place would mean that in INDIVIDUAL RUNNING EVENTS with preliminaries and finals (100, 200, 100/110 hurdles), the next six fastest times of the non-qualifiers may come from "Finals" competition only. This means in the events with preliminaries and finals, 3rd-8th place could qualify for the state track meet if their district final time was one of the next six fastest times of the non-qualifiers from all districts submitted. In the individual running events that are "finals only" (400, 800, 1600, 3200, 300 Hurdles), 3rd-8th place could qualify for the state track meet if their district finals time was one of the next six fastest times of the non-qualifiers from all districts submitted.

- In the event the Fully Automatic Timing (FAT) system would fail in any district in any running event, the backup manual times in that district will be converted to FAT (Manual Time rounded up to the next tenth of a second, plus .24 seconds added to = FAT). The converted time will be reported as the official time.

- In the event the FAT timing system would fail in any district in any running event, and backup manual times are not available, the top three finishers in the individual running events and the top two finishers in the relay events will qualify and the non-qualifiers will be required to re-run the race to establish a time for comparison.

Other Sports District Track Assignments & Qualifying Rules

CLASS C

Class C has two districts of nine schools each and seven districts of 10 schools each, for a total of 88 schools. Class C district meets will take place on Thursday, May 15.

Individual Running Events
The top two finishers in each event will qualify for the state meet, plus the next SIX (6) fastest times of the non-qualifiers, regardless of place in a finals event for a maximum of 24 qualifiers. If there is a tie for the final qualifying spot of the non-qualifiers, the tie will be broken by comparing the times to the thousandths.

Relays
The winner in the relay races will qualify for the state meet, plus the next SEVEN (7) fastest times of the non-qualifiers, regardless of place in a finals event, for a maximum of 16 qualifiers. If there is a tie for the final qualifying spot of the non-qualifiers, the tie will be broken by comparing the times to the thousandths.

Field Events (Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put, Discus)
The top two finishers in the long jump, triple jump, shot put and discus will qualify for the state meet, plus the next SIX (6) best performances of the non-qualifiers across all districts. If the case of a tie for the last qualifying spot, all of those tied shall qualify.

Field Events (Pole Vault, High Jump)
The top two finishers in the pole vault and high jump will qualify for the state meet, plus all who equal or exceed the automatic qualifying mark at the 2025 NSAA Class C District Meet. The automatic qualifying mark is determined by using the average height of 8th place at the State Meet for the past three years. In the pole vault, athletes must clear 9' 6" (boys) and 6' 6" (girls) in order to qualify for the state meet.

- Regardless of place would mean that in INDIVIDUAL RUNNING EVENTS with preliminaries and finals (100, 200, 100/110 hurdles), the next six fastest times of the non-qualifiers may come from "Finals" competition only. This means in the events with preliminaries and finals, 3rd-8th place could qualify for the state track meet if their district final time was one of the next six fastest times of the non-qualifiers from all districts submitted. In the individual running events that are "finals only" (400, 800, 1600, 3200, 300 Hurdles), 3rd-8th place could qualify for the state track meet if their district finals time was one of the next six fastest times of the non-qualifiers from all districts submitted.

- In the event the Fully Automatic Timing (FAT) system would fail in any district in any running event, the backup manual times in that district will be converted to FAT (Manual Time rounded up to the next tenth of a second, plus .24 seconds added to = FAT). The converted time will be reported as the official time.

- In the event the FAT timing system would fail in any district in any running event, and backup manual times are not available, the top three finishers in the individual running events and the top two finishers in the relay events will qualify and the non-qualifiers will be required to re-run the race to establish a time for comparison.
