The NSAA Board of Directors met on December 7, 2022 at The Lodge in Norfolk, Nebraska with the following members present:

District I - Kara Graham, Lincoln Southeast​
District I - Dana Wiseman, Sutton​
District II - Dr. Bob Reznicek, Boys Town​
District II - Thomas Lee, Omaha Westview​
District III - Dr. Jon Cerny, Bancroft-Rosalie​
District IV - Ryan Ruhl, Centura​
District V - Robert Drews, Arapahoe​
District VI - Dr. Troy Unzicker, Alliance​
Also in attendance were Kim Snyder, Nebraska Department of Education liaison; Bobby Truhe, NSAA Legal Counsel; Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame Members Jerry Bartee, Wendy Henrichs, Steve Shanahan and Sue Wilcoxson.

The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m.

1. Moved to approve the Consent Agenda. Items on the Consent Agenda included:

- Approval of the meeting Agenda as amended​
- Approval of the Minutes of the November 3, 2022 Board of Directors meeting​
- Approval of the Minutes of the November 29-30th Board of Directors meeting​
- Approval of Financial Statements​
- Approval of the following new cooperative sponsorships for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 school years:​
- Pender, Bancroft-Rosalie and Lyons-Decatur Northeast for Baseball​
- Omaha Roncalli, Omaha Brownell-Talbot, Omaha Christian Academy and Omaha Concordia for Boys Soccer​
- Twin River and Osceola for Baseball​
- Approval of the renewal of the following cooperative sponsorships for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years:​
- Sargent and Loup County for Volleyball, Boys Cross Country and Girls Cross Country​
- David City, East Butler and Shelby/Rising City for Softball​
- Lexington and Overton for Softball​
- Hartington-Newcastle and Hartington Cedar Catholic for Girls Cross Country, Boys Cross Country and Girls Golf​
- Twin River, Humphrey and Lindsay Holy Family for Softball​
- Humphrey and Lindsay Holy Family for Volleyball​

Motion Carried: 8-0

2. The Board discussed the NSAA District Meetings.

3. Moved to approve Omaha Marian to opt up in Journalism for the 2022-23 school year. Motion Carried: 8-0

4. Moved to approve Omaha Westview to opt up in Journalism for the 2022-23 school year. Motion Carried: 8-0

5. Snyder led the Board in a discussion about the book "8 Ways to Support Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for All."

6. The Board discussed including out-of-state opponents in the wildcard point system for all wildcard sports beginning with the 2023-24 school year.

7. Moved to approve the 2023 State Bowling Schedule Motion Carried: 8-0

8. Moved to approve the State Girls and Boys Tennis schedule for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years with all matches being played at Woods Tennis Center in Lincoln. Motion Carried: 8-0

9. Moved to allow only one participant per weight class for girls district wrestling beginning with the 2022-23 season. Motion Carried: 8-0

10. The Board heard a request from the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame. It was moved to modify the rental agreement with the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame for 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026. Motion Carried

11. Moved to table the approval of the appointment and contract of the Interim Executive Director. Motion Failed: 4-4 (For: Reznicek, Cerny, Ruhl, Drews) | (Against: Graham, Wiseman, Lee, Unzicker)

12. Moved to enter into executive session at 11:24 a.m. to seek legal advice and discuss the proposed Interim Executive Director contract. Motion Carried: 8-0

13. Moved to exit executive session at 12:02 p.m. Motion Carried: 8-0

14. Moved to approve the appointment of the Interim Executive Director and to approve the contract as presented for the 2023-24 school year. Motion Carried: 6-0-2 (For: Wiseman, Reznicek, Lee, Graham, Ruhl, Drews) | (Abstain: Cerny, Unzicker)

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 12:30 p.m.

The next Board of Directors meting will be January 19, 2023 at the NSAA Office in Lincoln.
