The NSAA Board of Directors met on January 20, 2022 at the NSAA Office in Lincoln with the following members present:
The meeting was called to order at 8:30 AM.
1. Moved to approve the Consent Agenda as presented. Items on the Consent Agenda included:
2. The Board discussed the January NSAA District Meetings and legislative proposals.
3. The Board discussed sportsmanship and the NFHS Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Initiative.
4. The Board discussed COVID-19 protocols.
5. The Board entered closed session at 9:38 a.m. to hear an appeal from Hartington-Newcastle High School.
6. The Board exited closed session at 9:54 a.m.
7. It was moved to enter executive session at 9:54 a.m. to deliberate on the presented hardship, protect the public interest and to prevent the needless injury to the reputation of an individual(s). Motion Carried: 8-0
8. Moved to exit executive session at 10:03 a.m. Motion Carried: 8-0
9. The Board entered closed session at 10:09 a.m. to hear an appeal from Gretna High School.
10. The Board exited closed session at 12:36 p.m.
11. The Executive Director discussed the reprimand report, the NFHS Winter Meeting, and implementing the Summer Bylaw proposal this year.
12. It was moved to enter into executive session at 12:47 p.m. to deliberate on the presented hardship, to protect the public interest, and to prevent the needless injury to the reputation of an individual(s). Motion Carried: 8-0
13. It was moved to exit executive session at 3:08 p.m. Motion Carried: 8-0
14. It was moved to uphold the Executive Director's denied hardship waiver for Hartington-Newcastle. Motion Carried: 8-0
15. It was moved to uphold the Executive Director's determination for Gretna High School with clarifications from the Board to be included in the written findings. Motion Carried: 8-0
16. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:13 p.m.
