2020-2021 Enrollments

My ONLY issue with the opt up/down is when you're opting down a class in 11 man. If you have enough to play C2, you have enough to play C1. Chances are you're not going to be very good in either class.

Difference is the number of upperclassmen playing. Generally C1 teams are senior/junior heavy & C2 teams are going to play more sophomores

NSAA updated the list again today (11/22)

Looks like C2 will be at 33 confirmed teams with the possibility of adding a few more that are close on numbers (listed above). Maybe gets C2 to 35-37 teams with 3 of those being ineligible for the playoffs.

any guess on districts starting west

any guess on districts starting west
Tough to tell without knowing if any of those other C1 teams will drop down. Seems like you’ll have some districts with 6 teams and others with 5 teams. Normally they put the districts out East with 6 teams but with valentine, it almost makes more sense to have that western district have 6 teams. Then do you work west to East with 6 teams and then go down to 5? Or split it up and have the western district with 6 and then 2 eastern districts with 6? Not sure on the exact science of how they choose districts. Last cycle seemed to start in the south east part of the state? Or Is it west to east? Or pick a direction and maybe use common sense? Here are two shot in the dark guesses based on districts from last cycle (this all changes with C1 schools dropping). Less teams make for more awkward districts:

Scenario 1
District 1
Archbishop Bergan
Louisville
Lincoln Lutheran
Syracuse
Tekamah-Herman
Yutan

District 2
BRLD
Crofton
Hartington CC
Norfolk Catholic
Oakland-Craig
Ponca

District 3
Aquinas
Centennial
David City
Malcolm
Twin River

District 4
Hastings St. Cecilia
Sandy Creek
Superior
Sutton
Wilber-Clatonia

District 5
Centura
Doniphan-Trumbull
Gibbon
GICC
Ord

District 6
Bridgeport
Chase County
Gordon-Rushville
Hershey
NPSP
Valentine

or

Scenario 2
District 1
Bridgeport
Chase County
Gordon-Rushville
Hershey
NPSP
Valentine

District 2
Centura
Doniphan-Trumbull
Gibbon
GICC
Hastings St Cecilia
Ord

District 3

Sutton
Twin River
Wilber-Clatonia

District 4

Lincoln Lutheran
Syracuse

District 5
Archbishop Bergan
Oakland-Craig
Louisville
Tekamah-Herman
Yutan

District 6
BRLD
Crofton
Hartington CC
Norfolk Catholic
Ponca

if anyone had any confirmation on these schools being C1 or C2, it may be easier to nail it down:

Fillmore Central
Kearney Catholic
Lincoln Christian
Louisville
Neumann
(any other school that may drop down?)

I don't get why any school would stay in a class and be ineligible for the playoffs. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems a little odd.

I can see the thought process behind dropping a class if a school has been terrible for a time and things don't look better for the future. In reality, a bad 11-man team that declares 8-man usually is still a bad 8 man team.
What I don't see is why you would drop if you have a decent amount of athletic kids. Maybe they won't win 8 or nine games in 11 man, but they could definitely be respectable and at least have a chance to squeak into the play-offs.
