Nebraska HS Mascot thread

I believe in the papers that I've read, that they were the Mallards.

We need more mascots like Mallards, Polar Bears, Antelopes, Ramblers.

I can handle polar bears but mallards and Antelopes no thanks

A national publication ( I think was USA Today) used to have a national high school mascot contest each year. I remember one year the Holdrege Dusters received the most Nebraska votes but I didn't follow it through to see what won on the national level. I remember the Yuma, Arizona Criminals and the Kuna, Idaho Cavemen getting a lot of votes.

over the years I know of plenty of strange ones Midgets, bunnies, blossoms, honkers and spoof hounds to just name a few

Can't believe when West Holt was formed they ditched the Haybalers name for Huskies. #sad

Atkinson Junior High did hold onto the Baler mascot for quite a few years after the formation of the West Holt district but now it is all West Holt and both JH/HS use the Husky mascot.
