When are we going to get away with spring baseball in the lower classes. Only 9 teams in Class c have a winning record that are in districts!!!! Smh
Blair is a sleeping giant if the right person goes in thereThe Jared Crick-Cozad reunion could be the perfect fit. He obviously has a ton of knowledge of the game with his experience. That being said, sometimes the best of players struggle to teach so it'll be interesting to see how he fills that role. Cozad has some really good young talent and it should be easy to get buy-in from those kids with the opportunity to learn from someone who has done it at the highest level.
As far as best jobs, hard to argue with Bishop-Neumann, Blair and York.
I know for a fact they said they willIt's not just the NSAA though. It's the university and NPTV. NPTV has to be willing to have workers and broadcast four games in a day. The University has to be willing to have workers staff parking and the facilities for the extra hours required.

So this entire discussion is only a discussion if the NSAA will not adjust the schedule and If that is the case then the member school just have to force them and then maybe think about replacing the NSAA person who they had to force to do what makes sense and other states do.
Curious how close your game ended to the next game? I find it interesting how it plays out for everyone. Our state championship, we had all the time we wanted to take photos and celebrate. It was a ground based game where the clock didn't stop much. The Class A game followed, but it was almost 2 hours later.I'm telling you. Give me a night game with several thousand people in the stands over playing at 11 am in front of a thousand. Just my opinion but the Memorial Stadium experience is a little over sold. Locker rooms sucked, atmosphere sucked, rushed you out after the game to get ready for the next one. Locker rooms had holes in the wall and particle board lockers. Other than being big, it was bad. I couldn't believe a D1 college team would use a locker room like that honestly. Make it special and make it memorable and let kids enjoy the moment. It's a state title game. They will remember it their whole lives. I was honestly underwhelmed by the experience of it. I know many will disagree, but I wasn't the only one that thought that.
This has been alluded to and I'd like to amplify. When the Head Coach leaves, so does the culture. Look at how many times really good traditions disappears until the right guy is found. It's a mix, good athletes give coaches a chance, then you have to plug in your culture/thoughts to continue the tradition. The business of encouraging kids to go to your school in metro areas-well-you know. Look through the schools named in this thread--expectations are there and yet you can peak back and see they have had down times. Good Luck to AllIs Elkhorn still a good job? From an outsider's perspective, it looks like the two new schools (South & North) have taken most of the athletes lately. Wasn't sure if it's just a cyclical thing or if it is trending that way for the foreseeable future.
No question Elkhorn loses kids to Elk North and Elk South. That said, won't be long before Elkhorn North is class A and Elkhorn High is the only class B Elkhorn school. Is Elkhorn still a good job? No they don't.you know you are not in the real player locker rooms right ? Also if you poll high school football players or ask any team or coach who have played or coached in the game THEY want it at UNL

Our high school locker room was nicer than the one we dressed in. I'm not sure you can say poll the coaches because I think the coaches voted for the D3 option knowing there would be a chance of moving out of Memorial for the finals. I think coaches are more concerned about keeping a level playing field with eligibility numbers. Coaches make decisions based on what's best for their program.. I for one welcome the changes coming to the games and am excited to see where it goes. I do know 8 man coaches love to showcase their game. There were lots of grumblings when 8 man went to the standard playoff schedule a few years back. Before that is was a great chance to be the "only show in town" on game night. The Sertoma game has been going strong for over 40 years. They love to promote the 8 man HOF in Hastings. They will make moving these out of Lincoln a great experience for everyone. I have no doubt about that. I look at what the 6 man game in Kearney does for their game. It highlights it rather than lump it in with everything else. It's great exposure for their game. It's obvious we will disagree on this topic and there are a lot of kids that will miss out on playing at Lincoln but I think this will be for the betterment of the 8 man game personally.

The demographics of Grand Island most certainly does lend itself to being successful. Those kids are tougher than any other class A school. I don't think many metro kids would last at GI. I'll say it again...nobody wants to play the Islanders. You might win, but you will pay for it for several days.People don't realize how good of a job Coach Snodgrass did at York. He made that look like a great job. I think you will quickly find out that it very difficult to be successful there. If Coach Snodgrass stays there as S&C coach, they will have a shot, but there are a lot of variables working against that school being successful. Being towards the bottom in Class B enrollment does not help. If they could drop 20-30 boys or if there is a restructure of classification to get them in C1, that would change that job drastically.
Someone pointed out Grand Island. I'd argue the same for Grand Island. That's not a great job. Coach Tomlin worked his tail off to make them successful and tough as nails. it takes a special person to make that school competitive. Just because they have the most boys doesn't mean the demographics of that population lends itself to be successful at football. Look at their girls basketball program
Neumann will always be a solid job. Scotus is a great job. They have some great young kids coming up. Elkhorn is a great job. Malcom is another sneaky good job. Coach Amen slowly did great things and the district as evolved a lot. Lot of involved athletes with families who invest in their success. And i think Coufal is a tremendous coach and head coach in the making. I think Coufal is probably the best hire in possibly the best long term position for success.

And let's keep this positive and not dog anyone!
From this list, who is the best hire this offseason? Why?
What do you consider the best job? Factor in school, tradition, participation, community/admin support, etc.
I'll go first.
Best Hire: I think its hard to argue with Scott Trimble's (Med Valley) track record. Won state at Arthur and Harvard. He knows what he is doing and I don't think he takes the job if the cupboard is bare. Med Valley has really struggled the last few years but does have a strong athletic tradition at the school. I would look for winning football in the near future as they acclimate to his system and the 6 man game.
Best Job: Not sure I can pick one. Several schools with strong winning traditions on there. York, Bishop Neuman, Kenesaw and Riverside have all had a ton of success. Probably hard to argue with Bishop Neuman. Don't know much about them but seems like they are always there at the end of the season.
They had a heck of a run in C-2 in 06 & 07. Joel NIxon was a nightmareI think Wakefield was 8 man but was ineligible when they were having their run a few years ago.
I'd agree with you on Crick. Pretty cool for the Cozad kids to have someone with his resume leading the program. They will definitely be a team I'll keep an eye on next fall. The Jared Crick-Cozad reunion could be the perfect fit. He obviously has a ton of knowledge of the game with his experience. I think Wakefield was 8 man but was ineligible when they were having their run a few years ago.Best Job in terms of opportunity- Grand Island. Its the largest school in the state and you aren't the coach that followed Tomlin. Nothing but up from here. Coach Tomlin had Grand Island humming. Last year sounds like things went astray pretty fast. It can be rebuilt. When Tomlin had GI bought in nobody wanted to play the Islanders. It can be built again.
Best job in terms of prestige- Elkhorn. It isn't close. Eleven time finalist and 6 time state champ.
I don't know that I can pick a single "best hire". Matt Brackhan at York will be a great head coach. Cory Valasek at St Paul is a fantastic man and coach. Russ Plager at Wayne has won in that same role before. Scott Trimble at Medicine Valley has won everywhere he has gone. Several other guys that will do a fine job.
This cycle there were/are several tradition rich programs looking for new head coaches.
A: Papillion-Lavista, Millard West, Grand Island
B: Elkhorn and Crete. That was class B football for about 15 years in the early 2000s.
C1/C2: Bishop Neumann, Ponca, Scotus
D: Wakefield and Giltner jump off the page to me. I remember a time when Wakefield was about unbeatable, though I think they were 11-man at the time.
