Getting down to the wire here with the football season. Who are some of your favorites you've seen this year. I tend to follow the 8 man teams more closely. For me D2 is going to be fun to watch. I think it all starts with H/D, but I think Hitchcock County and Dundy County will have a say in things too. Osceala sounds like they are healthy now. Is EPPJ going to be healthy enough? BDS will be in the thick of it as always. Lawrence/Nelson will be a tough out for sure. Can't count out FCSH either. This is going to be a great October/November for football fans! Who do you like?....also, Great to see North Platte win against Westside last week. The NP radio call on that game was awesome!

IF HD is healthy they win D2 and same for NPSP. I dont think its even close

We will learn a lot this Friday about Dundy and Hitchcock as far as if either of them will be able to push HD. EPPJ is done with the injury of their running back being out for the rest of the season. D1 might be the most lopsided favorite we have of any class with NPSP. They won't see a game this year.

I agree but sorry in my opinion D2 is just as lopsided with HD and the rest are just not very close at all, but thats why they play the games, we will soon know

If NPSP can keep rolling like they are and keep the injury bug away, I don't see a team in D1 that can match the runningback combo of Jackson Roberts and Will Moats. Roberts is a freak. Moats is a senior, but most of the Irish come back for 2023 too.

I think H/D vs Hitchcock would be a straight up slugfest. Both teams are built the same. H/D has the experience and tradition but Hitchcock will be a tough out. Big and nasty up front and run really hard. Not sure if they have the speed I assume H/D does in the backfield. D1 I agree on. Its St Pats and everyone else is fighting for runner up.

I wish he would do a video about how they prepare for the week. Practice and weight room. Stuff like that.
I've always thought it would be really to see a Highway 91 football documentary. Sit down with coaches like Pilmore of Dodge, Spiers, Clarkson, Kessler, Rusty Rautenburg of LHF, and former players. From 1994-2012, an 8 man team from Highway 91 played for a state championship. The team from 91 brought home a championship every year except for four times. Dodge to Lindsay is 44 miles. That is a ton of great football played in a small area.

1994-Dodge
1995-Dodge, HSF
1996-Dodge, HSF
1997-Dodge
1998-HSF (runner up)
1999-Dodge
2000-Howells, LHF
2001-Howells
2002-Howells
2003-Howells
2004-Howells, LHF
2005-Howells
2006-Dodge
2007-Clarkson (runner up)
2008-Howells
2009-Howells, HSF
2010-Howells
2011-Howells (runner up)
2012-HSF (runner up)

Imagine if there wasn't an east/west split in the 2000's? I bet HSF could have played Howells for a championship in the early 2000's. They lost to Howells in the playoffs I think four years in a row. Clarkson had a great run in the late 2000's.

I dont think its a HWY 91 dominate as its a Howells dodge dominate. rest are riding coat tails

I would never say that about HSF and LHF. They both were dominate programs during that time frame. HSF hasn't missed the playoffs since 1994. LHF made the playoffs thirteen years in a row, and a state championship game 4 out 5 years. They weren't riding any coattails.

Yeah, that old Cornhusker Conference was insanely good.

I was always partial to the old Loup Valley Conference myself. It almost always seemed the the West went through that conference. Anslemo-Merna, Ansley, Sargent, Callaway, Sandhills, Mullen, Thedford. Man there was some great football played there in the 80's and 90's.

Howells Dodge is the runaway favorite in D2, What teams can challenge NPSP in D1? maybe a team that can keep them off balance and play physical? who might that be?

that is true, just very howells dodge heavy My point is if you take them out of this, its very normal looking for a conference or area

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge has looked good, not sure they've faced a terribly stiff test yet though.

Shocked Stanton and Clarkson-Leigh weren't in the same district or didn't get on each others schedule. That would be a great game.

Cross County has played an awful schedule...
1-5 Sutton
2-4 OBT
0-6 McCool Junction
1-5 Twin River
1-5 Cedar Bluffs
1-5 Madison

I'm still intrigued with Neligh-Oakdale with their QB and offense.

NPSP has the #1 seed pretty much locked up.

Too lazy to look it up but how have the other 11 man drop downs fared this year. St. Pats obviously is what they are. Bridgeport will be 6-2 I assume (that west D-1 district is bad). Other than that, I haven't paid much attention to the others.

The Kuester kid must be unreal. If I remember right H/D opened with them and handled them pretty easily. But H/D would be in Lincoln in the D1 game this year if they were still there. I'd argue the path to LIncoln may be easier in D1 than in D2 this year!

I think the path is easier in D1 no question. D2 has H-D but Sandhills-Thedford, Dundy, Hitchcock, BDS, Bloomfield, Elm Creek, Johnson-Brock, Sacred Heart, Twin Loup, Osceola, Central Valley. It's very deep.

A lot of those teams if they were in D1 would have similar records to what they have now IMO.

LOl two classes then. One 11-man and 0ne class 8-man
8 man is different because the enrollment size. 75 teams with enrollments between 58-36.

Could have 12 districts (9 districts of 6 teams, 3 districts of 7 teams.
Playoffs would be 32 teams (12 district winners 20 wild cards) Reseed after round of 32.

First off top half of you teams do not even play 8-man. and second why not have one class in C then also, it is in the same size difference of enrollment from top to bottom as 8-man, Also if you adjust enrollment some you could say the same for each class. Class A would be 800 and up. class B 799 to 400class C 399 to 99 and 8-man 99 and below If your going to do it then do it The bottom of 8-man enrollment teams is 14 You could alos say the bottom can be 27 and take each number x 3 and make classes up SO 8-man is 27 to 81 Class c is 81 to 243 and class B is 243 to 749 and the rest is class A. I wouldnt do it but you could. whats good for one class is good for the rest

Using the classifications for this year, I'd love to see.

Class A: Top 24 teams by enrollment. So that would be 593 and above
Class B: 32 teams, enrollment of 592-157
Class C: 60 teams, enrollment of 158-59
Class D1: (One eight man class) 75 teams, enrollment of 58-36
Class D2: (One six man class) 86 teams, enrollment of 35 and below.

No opting down, opting up is allowed.

Has anyone seen Stanton play? Are they a real contender? Some publications have them as high as #2 but no real mention of them in this thread as a challenge to NPSP's.

Tough to say, they've only beat one team with a winning record, Riverside in week 1.

They have three players over 300 yards rushing already. Thrown for 600 yards.
