D2 have has it ever been this low

Interesting that a lot of these schools are from the panhandle. Is there any connection to availability of the "elite" programs where the kids spend their summers playing ball? Omaha has numerous, Norfolk has several, Sioux City, etc. Kids on these teams are playing more basketball in one...

Football High seeds hosting playoff games.

Worrying about school days missed and parents/fans having to take time off to get to games is a real concern. Why not have the games played on Saturday in the afternoon. No school missed, no extra days off, might miss the Husker game which this year would be a bonus.

I misunderstood your question. I took it as who gives us something to talk about at the coffee shop on Saturday. Both are good questions, lol

C2 Playoff Projections Updated Through Week 8

I've seen both Cedar and Ponca this year, both very good teams. Ponca has an effective passing attack which will give Cedar a real test. Cedar has some very good and very big linemen. The other piece to Cedar is their speed. They start 3 kids who were on the second place 4X1 state relay...

    Football Scores from Thursday (8/24)

Their line play last night was something to see. "Tough Draw" is an understatement in my mind.

    2017 Shrine Bowl Rosters Announced

    2017 Shrine Bowl Rosters Announced

It's hard to know who was invited. Some of the kids invited turn it down for various reasons ranging from family commitments to next level school concerns. It would be fun to know who all was invited. Knowing that there are 13 FBS commits in Nebraska and only six playing tells us that about...

    Thoughts....

There is an old cliché, “it’s hard to compare apples to oranges”. It's relevant here for this discussion. I've lived in ten different states due to my profession and most of the parochial schools I've seen have been in urban areas until coming here to Nebraska. I haven't lived in Kansas but...

    Huskerland C2 Rankings

I have watched a lot of football and this year a lot of C2-4 football. W-C is without a doubt one of the best small class teams I've seen across the front. Took a look at the Huskerland top 10 thought I would throw out my own. Huskerland Prep Top 10 My Top Ten Reasoning 1.Wilber-Clatonia...

    C-2 Games

I think your words "all beat up on each other" is very accurate. In the WC-Stanton game on the sidelines two starters were in street clothes with their arms in a sling. I know one was a starting lineman from talking with folks. I watched Hartington CC late in the season and they had 7...

This is an interesting article showing what each state does for competitive balance in high school sports. http://highschoolsports.cleveland.com/news/article/-4000324031846785879/ohsaas-competitive-balance-referendum-the-latest-round-in-a-national-fight-between-public-and-private-schools/

    River Bowl?

Does anyone know much about the River Bowl? I've seen a little on line, a game between Iowa and Nebraska players played in late November. They sent out invitations in the last 24 hours.

    Thoughts....

A little background. I taught in a public school attended a Catholic school growing up. Our public system of education is failing our youth and this proposal is an example of that. The student is not held responsible by his/her parents or the school system for their success or failure. It's...

Where will you be this week?

Going to watch your nephew play, to me that's the best thing about high school football, knowing the young men playing and having a personal connection. Enjoy the game!
